Hi all,

Just wondering how other peoples youngsters are doing and if anyone elses seems to be doing most their growing over winter as mine does?

I have a 3/4 ID who turned 2 yrs 6 months at the end of dec. He has really bulked up lately and leveled out as has been bum hi for a few months. He is standing at 16hh as measured him yesterday. I am hopefull that he will end up about 16.2 to 16.3ish. If he grows bigger thats fine too as they prefer them bigger in the Ridden Hunter classes.

My just-turned four year old is 17.2hh now, and still going! I'm trying to persuade him to get to 18.2hh, but I think in reality he'll make 18hh maximum. He's definitely going to be a slow maturer though - he's still a bit gangly and babyish, and VERY croup high!

Harold is just over 5 months old and is the same height as his Mum :D (About 34 inches) His full sister Izzy is rising 2, she is approx 10.2hh/11hh. Think they will both make about 12hh :)

Mine (3 in April) is about 15.1 at the moment. She has levelled off a bit recently but I expect she'll have a spurt again this spring.

Mine is 19mths and 15.1hh and a bit. I hope he doesn't get much bigger than 16.2hh but I am worried - he has some big solid legs on him! Lol. Think I should take a few pics of him now to refer back to.

Starzaan ... 17.2 is big and 18.2 is blooming MASSIVE!!
What breed is yours as I no ID are slow matures and personally i dont fancy mine growing over 17hh. What do you do or want to do with him?

Telh ... Your's sound adorable. do you have pic's??

Jesstickle ... mine didn't really have a growth spurt in spring has your grown much over winter? Maybe mine's just bit wierd?? Bless him!!

Yup that's Titch! The first pic is her at about 6 months, and the second at about 1 year. And this is her a few weeks ago!

She's a tad bum high right now...

Hmm that and I think I need to know what his dad was. his mum was a TB, I've seen pics of her - quite scrawny. His dad evidently was coloured but must be some sport horse type as opposed to a trad cob or anything as mine has no feather and is only middleweight. hmm.......

does anyone know how connemaras grow?
i have a 2 year old gelding, currently about 14hh/14.1hh.
both his parents are 14.2hh, i was hoping he wouldn't go over that!
he looks tall but still very babyish, so will he stop going up at some point and start maturing?
any comments much appreciated :)

This is him at one day old with his Mum :)

Alfie is 7 months and stands 13.1hh ish. would anyone know roughly how big he'd get..?? mum is 15hh and we dont know who the sire is x

Just bought a foal, getting here tomorrow, atm he is 5 months old and about 13 hands, dad is about 16.2 and mum is about 15 hands, any ideas on how big he'll get?

hes a gypsy vanner x irish sports horse.

I despair! I bought an 11 month old to make 14.2hh give or take. He was 12.2hh at the time so about right. Hes now 17 months old just, and I say hes 14.1hh, but I'm lying to myself :D hes probably at least 14.2hh, more likely pushing 15hands. He damn certainly isnt going to make 14.2hh :D

When Dex started growing like a weed I bought a foal, partly to keep him company (not really ness as we have a rising 3 yr old and Dexters half brother whom is the same age, but still :D ) and partly to have something splodgy to take out showing as theres not many local clases for fugly bay babies :D Anyway, he was supposed to make 15hands. He was feral and I didn't get within 30 foot of him. I bought him on the basis of his movement, his splodges, and the fact he looked 12.2hh ish. He was delivered and was 13.2hh and bum high.

Epic fail on my behalf! I find handling/riding anything above about 15hands a chore depsite being 5ft5. So i deliberately bought babies to make 15hands or there abouts, and both of them are going to be way bigger, even worse, I adore them both, and the foal in particular is such a quality horse I simply wouldn't be able to afford to replace him even if I could find one similar!

My 8 month old is at approx 13.2 - his dam was purchased infoal, with no covering cert so we dont know who the daddy is/his height etc. (app dad was a section d - thats all we know, dam is TBxcob at about 14.2)

My 2 year 7 month old part bred welsh is at 13.2, already taller than her dam and sire so who knows what she'll end up as!

My 2 year 10 month old tb is prob still at 14.3 ish - but he was bought for his small height and frame so i hope he doesnt grow too much more.
