What size dressage girth?????

I know this i similar to how long's a piece of string but it's worth asking!!

I have just ordered a new 16.5 Wintec pro-dressage saddle for my 14hh nf mare and am wondering if anyone had any ideas how to gauge what size dressage girth I may need for her? Currently wears 40" - 42" on her Thorowgood gp saddle?

Stab in the dark I know but I'm too impatient to have to go shopping again once the saddle arrives - want to try it out asap!! he he!!

It does also depend on the length of the girth straps, but as a rough guide, you deduct 20" from your horse's 'usual' length...

That's great thanks, I thought it may be somewhere down those lines. Just that I have waited so long to finally get my dressage saddle - small things and all that!

Well my 5 horses are a 48" long girth and a 20"short girth!!!!!!!!!!!!

you need to make sure you have a long enough dressage girth - if it hits the elbow it has been known to take a horse down - it should end 1-2" below the flap - longer than most people realise.
