I want to buy a trailer, I was going to get a cheval liberte, but have been put off them so will prob get a trusty ifor williams. I borrowed my YOs 505 last summer to take my youngster to a few shows, she fits length wise but I felt she needed a bit more height or am i just being silly?? She did seem to fit really, but am not sure what to buy! Shes a rising 4 WBxTB 16.1 at the moment, may rise to 16.2 may not! What size horse do you get in a 505, or should I look out for a 510?

hi there, I had an ifor wil 505 n was always thought they took horses up 2 16'2. You could contact a local dealer they would be able to tell you for sure. I have a 510 now as my new horse is 17h,

they are fab trailers!!

We've got a 505 and both Ru and Gem don't really fit with another horse but are not too bad without the partition. Ru is 17hh WB, Gem is 16.2/3hh ID x. The prob i find is not just the length but the width and the head room aren't really enough with the partition in. We're in the process of buying a box at the mo instead

Thanks for your replies! Yes he ears do touch the roof and fold over!!! A few people have told me it will be fine, but I'm not convinced! She is a reluctant loader but a good traveller.

I had a 505 for my boy who is 16.2 and he really hated it and would go to load then back out at a hundred miles an hour and bash his noggin so I sold that and got a 510 and he's now a happy non bashed boy!

I travelled my 4yr old 16hh in a 505 no probs, sold it as I had the use of a wagon and bought another 505 when I didnt. I didnt think much about a 510 as I thought the 505 would be fine. He had grown to 16.2 and filled out massively and he loaded fine ( no centre partition), I had my doubts about his size in it, he looked too big, never got the ramp and dont think I would have as he was just too big, he shot out backwards whacking his head on the roof and scared himself that much he wont go or should I say stay in a trailer anymore

I did get a Richardson Grande but ended up selling it again. My friend travels her 16.3 in a 505 but if I was you I would def get a 510 or equivelant sized trailer.

Im one to prefer the richardsons than the ifors! If i was getting a trailer to replace the lorry id go for richardson instead!

I also prefer them to have more space than not enough! What are the downsides of the 510 ovr the 505?

There are alot of Ifors about for sale so they are easy to come by but I am not a fan of them for a variety of reasons. I by far prefer the Bateson Deauville or Acott.

The Ifors have the off ramp on the wrong side so in an emergency you would offload your horse into traffic. There is not one tie ring on the outside of then at all. I think they rattle terribly & are noisy to tow.

The Bateson Deauville or Ascott have to off ramp on the correct side, they will take up to a 17h horse easily, they have saddle racks at the front, they tow beautifully & are smooth & quiet. They retin their value very well & people tend to hold onto them for along time.
