I'm 5'2/3" and ride a 14.3hh PBA and my mum's 15.2hh Fresian cross.
Prefer 15.2hh for jumping as the extra height makes the jumps look smaller , but love my little pony!

Hi i'm 5'5" and i ride my daughters 14hh connie and my son's 14'3hh sec d but my old boy who i ride when i'm not keeping the kids ponies fit is about 15hh .
Well Im normally on a 14.2 or a 14.3 (my loan pony and my old man ) I feel comfortable on anything up to 15.3. Although im now riding a 16.2hh exracer and hes fabulous, great manners but if her really decided to fook off then I wouldnt have the legs to get round him so in that sense I tend to stay lower than 16hh. Im 5ft 1 in my bare feet
I did have a 17.2hh on loan for ten years when I was younger (and smaller) and he was fabulous and taught me loads but my comfort height is less than 16hh
I ride my traddie boy who's built like a mammoth and is 15.1.
Also have a loan mare who's 14.3 Welsh D (much narrower).
Think it depends on how you're put together TBH: some people who're short still have long legs so would probably fit a bigger horse better.
But me, nope, I'm just dumpy with short legs. Being vertically challenged can bring its own difficulties, in that people tend to think that you're game for sorting out their naughty ponies that the kids have let get away with stuff and "needs an adult" to sort them out
5ft 1 and a half and have a 16hh tb. Worked mostly with hunters and p2p'ers so he seems quite small. My smallest hunter was 16.2 middleweight type, I had 2 17.2's and an 18hh ( my boss was very tall ). Rarely ride ponies, in fact I think the last time I rode one it buried me in the school!
I'm 5ft 2in and Mollie is 14.2. I think I'd prefer smaller though, as the ground seems so far away as I've got older. I think I'd feel safer on about 13.2.
I'm 5'1 and I would say my ideal height of horse would be either a more narrow built 15hh or a slightly chunkier 14.2/3hh but I'm ok with riding anything over 12.2hh really. As to upper height limit - depends on the activity really and the horse (hacking on a relatively well behaved horse 17hh+ fine but dressage on the same horse I would probably struggle to hold it together).
I'm just 5'4'' and although have ridden most heights from 11.3h - 17.2h in my adult-hood, I currently have a 15h welsh D x and a rising 3yr 13h NF x. I try not to ride anything over 16h now, as they seem so big!!
