What size horse do you under 5'4" ride?

5ft 3, ride a 15hh connie. I think you can go big or small, as long as you don't look silly if you are competing. And obviously weight is an issue! Some peeps can be short but also rather heavy, then your size of horse would matter.
Having recently lost 3.5 stone in the last year, it's rather nice having offers now from friends to ride their horses, which I never got before. Does you good to ride others I think.

I'm 5ft. Abba is 16.2, Heidi is 15.3, and Frank 16.1. Cupcake will finish about 15.3 and I bred her for that reason. I wanted something smaller and a warmblood in my size.

I don't like big horses anymore really. I do school lots of ponies and I'm a handy size to to so.

5'3" with short legs for my height. Generally I ride arabs and ponies. H & Spud are about 15.1, my old mares were 13.3 and 10.2, and Wolf is likely to finish up 14.3.

I'm 5'2" on a tall day and ride a 14hh PBA, although when this baby is born I will hopefully be taking my Mums 15.2 connemaraX tb to RC. I used to own a 15.3 compact welsh d x tb and always felt she was just the right size for me but I don't think I would go much bigger unless it was a superstar!

I'm 4"11 and my boy is 15.2. Up until I got him I rode at a riding school and they used to put me on anything from tiny ponies up to a 16.3 grumpy mare.

I don't think I would want anything bigger than my boy (it becomes a pain putting rugs/saddles on etc if they're too big) but probably wouldn't want to go below 14hh either.

I'm 5ft2 and my horse is 16hh and still growing.

I ride a lot of horses for my clients up to over 17hh in some cases, but it would be fair to say that my ideal height is 15.3-16.1hh. Once they get to 16.3hh and upwards I'm just not long enough in the leg to really hold them together and ride as effectively.

I'm 5.2

Currently horses around the 15.2 mark, one pony and then my youngsters will make 14.3 +

It's the shortest I've ridden regularly and grew up as a 12yo shrimp riding a 18.1 as ponies scared the bejesus out of me. Something about being closer to the ground!

5'1" and a bit and my own pony is a 14hh Fell; who I feel just right on. When working with horses I rode everything from tiny ponies to 17.2hh, but wouldn't feel right on anything huge now.
Plus the littlies are so much cheaper to keep and can get under low branches etc more easily. :)

5ft4 and ride a 15.3 TB, did previously loan a 16.3 HW cobx and looked a bit titchy on him, have also ridden an 18.2 ID and looked ridiculously small even with loooong stirrups :P

Have also ridden a couple of 13/13.2 ponies which were fun and I didn't look too bad!

I'm 5'1" and prefer to ride 15.2hh upwards. The tallest I've ridden is 17.3hh, and I felt fine on that.

I look utterly ridiculous a lot of the time, true, but I feel more secure if I'm higher up, and I prefer the (generally) longer stride.

I'm 5"3 and ride a 17.3 ISH! I am a little chunky for my height so I'm not a true 'petite' rider so I dont look too silly, plus my legs easily reach below the saddle so I dont have any problems with my aids.

5'1" and I like something about 14.2 for everyday riding. I do ride long though, so I look better on a 15hh ish but I find I can't reach them very well to look after on a day to day basis.

I am 5'2" and have a 15.2 cob and a 15.2 tb. Have ridden smaller and bigger things and felt ok but anything much over 16hh I find hard to keep together and harder to handle on ground

My horse is 15.3 and feels a nice height for me, I'm 5'3".

I feel okay on any height really, but I have short legs so can't get my leg around anything much taller than my horse :o I rode an 18.2 once...I literally couldn't ride him at all because my legs were just no where!!
