What size horse do you under 5'4" ride?

I am just 5ft4 (measured at hospital recently and I have clearly shrunk in my old age since I used to be just over!) and now have a 15hh Connie x (who is "just" 15hh, so really a big 14.3hh). Last horse was a 17hh ISH!

i'm about 5'6 on a tall day but when i'm bored of riding my horse i ride the 11.2hh

not easy fitting my arse into a cub saddle;)

I'm 5'2" and of slight build though strong muscles, I have a 14.1 native cob cross, pony legs and head, cob body :D I went for that height as due to my age when I got him (early 40s) I had decided I wanted to be closer to the ground overall if I'm going to be coming off not that I always assume I am! And also like to be able to leap on and off fairly easily if needed at gates etc when out hacking.

I am 5ft 2 and my little 15.2hh is perfectly sized for me. I have really short legs and even in my dressage saddle I have a good 5 inches below my foot and the bottom of his tummy! :)

I'm 5'3", light framed with short legs and I ride a 15.1 (we think, going to get him remeasured soon) ID x

(Old pictures so he's a bit fatter than he should have been)

I also ride and will eventually compete (if he takes to competing) my mum's 16.1 TB and look/feel perfectly fine on him as well

I am 5'3 and ride anything between 13.3hh to 16.3hh, well today I am.
I have broken in a 12hh pony smallest wise. both my horses are 16.3hh, well one is meant to be 16.1hh/16.2hh but he keeps growing!

My boy is 17.1, much much too big but he was a freebe and never uses his size in a bad way, I don't get the best out of him but he works to a level much high than I could expect so I'm more than happy if that's only 90% of his ability!

I'm 5ft 4" and riding currently a 16hh (bought as 15.2 and grew!!) my old boy is 14.3 and although carried me for 12 years with no problem, when I went off in search of new beast I went bigger as just felt a bit too big on him.

Ta BTR

I'm 5ft3 on a good day with fairly long legs and typically ride 12-14hh hairy ponies and gypsy cobs as that's what most riding centres give me. I prefer taller horses as I don't like the sensation of my feet dangling below the ponies/horses belly- the riding centre back home gives me a 15hh and I find I'm significantly more comfortable on him. Not quite as fun a ride as some of the hairy ponies, though xD

I think if I ever got my own horse I'd go for something 16-17hh.

He's very deep, but you look nice together :)

Daughter is 5'1 (but a complete tin ribs too!). She's rode 14hhers for years but is now on the look out for something between 15.2-16.2hh. She actually looks the right size when she rides my friends 16.1 warmblood but also does on a 14hh New Forest so we have no idea what to look for! It's going to be a case of try & see I think :)

I'm five two and I ride a 15hh welsh sec D. 14.2hh to 15.2hh is ideal for me anything bigger than 16.1hhish i struggle with on the ground as I have an old injury to my right arm and have issues with rugging up and tacking up. I do however prefer long striding small horses :) x

I'm 5'2.5" (yes, the half counts!), and I have Ozzy who is 14.1.

If I were to start again and spec my ideal horse I think I would look for something around 15 - 15.2

I am 5ft 3, quite long legs and have a very wide 14hh trad cob. My old mare was 14.1 but more of a medium weight so I felt a little big on her. I have been having refresher lessons recently at a school and think 14.3 - 15 medium weight would be the optimum for me (don't tell Flynn though!)
