What size horses do you prefer?

I like a well built 14.2, have ridden various heights from 11hh - 17hh and love 14.2/14.3hh best of all

i prefer riding something above 16.2hh, i got used to riding the 17.2 and 18hh ones

... although one of my rides atm is only 14.3hh but I think I may need rollerskates soon :O

A fairly chunky 15.1 - 16hh would be ideal for me although I would never swap my 17.1hh - I just struggle with the mounting part!

I like heavy cobs about 14.2 ish, i ride hubbys 16hh Shire cross Dutch who is built like a bus but i feel small on her. Although im 5ft6" i have short legs so i find a smaller ned easier to mount.

Love big horses.Maybe cos only 5'4" makes me feel taller

Only thing is I do have short legs so looks worse.OK on present horse as 16.2 warmblood.Yearling is standing at 15hh and has big knees so hoping he'll be a big boy.

I don't really mind what I ride, at the moment on a 14.2 ponio and on a 17.0 warmblood. Must admit it is much easier to mount the ponio

I don't care if I look like a pea on a drum on my big ned.... I am only 5'3 so proberly totally hilarious on him, and I wonder why I get strange looks

16hh - 16.2hh is my idea size of horse really - I am only 5ft2 but I feel most comfortable on a bigger horse.

I wouldn't rule out a bigger or a smaller horse though, it would depend on the feel. After all, some very tall horses can be sensitive and light and some short horses can ride much taller than they are.

I'm 5ft7 but feel most comfortable on a 15.1 Connie, also ride a 14.2 Arab but feel a bit big for her as she's not very chunky! I just don't feel comfortable with big (16.3+) horses though

prefer atleast 16.2hh, and the smallest i will ride regularly is 15.3. But i sometimes get on the littlies

i can easily get on my 17hh from the ground so no issues there.

No smaller that 16hh and no bigger than 17hh. Not a big fan of chunky horses, but love muscle, elegance and big paces for power and presence in the dressage arena - lol!

Love my 16hh TB and my 16.2hh Warmblood!

I usually like quite fine horses, around 15hh.
However at the moment I have a 14.2hh Irish sportshorse, with more irish cob than thoroughbred, if you get what I mean

I dont do ponies,lol...and sadly to tall to look like a pea on a drum, love my 16.3 upwards Tbs

I like 15.2h ish really, my girl is 16.1hh which is fine, except when she is tense she can feel a hell of a lot bigger!

I like short coupled horses as find they are more agile and can get out of trouble better. Dont like long, gangly horses. My current one is a 16hh which is slightly too small for me IMO as he's light built. Ideally 16.2hh short coupled!

my 13.1 suits me down to the ground although do wish she was more like 14hands sometimes, mostly just when jumping. have got a 15hand yuongster who im hoping wont finish any bigger than 15.1.
the only 16hand+ horses i will ride are ones i know well, im 5ft2 and dont really like riding big ones - it just doesnt interest me really any more - i used to ride all sizes from 10hands to 17 when i was younger and would hop on anything regardless of size. the 2 big boys i have/do ride occasionally are well mannered though so i feel ok.

Ideally around the 16hh mark for me, Will comfortably ride down to 15hh, but at 5'8" I feel too tall on anything smaller. Which is a shame as I'd love to be able to ride ponies.

Will happily ride bigger, but think that 17hh or more looks a bit big for me, although it depends on the build.

As I'm looking for a horse to share with hubby and he's very tall we're compromising and looking for 16hh - 17hh ideally. He actually doesn't really like big horses and is quite happy riding little cobs but it makes it difficult to get his leg on correctly and can affect his balance so he knows he needs something a bit bigger. He looks best on a 16.3hh chunky ISH, but has long legs that make just about any horse look pony sized!

I thought I preferred little ones, but since having my 14.1 pony I've fallen off more times in 6 months than I had in 20 years on my horse!!!

Think I'm going back to horses with my next one!!
