looking for a new pony for my 10yr old daughter as we've just sold her lead rein pony, now I've been looking at ads for 12.2's but in most of the ads they're being ridden by kids who look much bigger than my daughter, i'm concerned that my nervous nellie daughter is going to be overhorsed with a 12.2!! daughter is only just 4ft 5'' and weighs 4 stone. She didn't look ridiculously big on the 11hh pony we've just sold so do i go for an 11.2/3 or a 12.2hh:confused:

I don't think size matters too much - better to go for a bigger sane/safe pony. Believe me they grow so quick it's scary, my daughter has gone from 11.2 at age 10 to a 16.1 at age 14!:

Think abt when you (assuming you're the mum not the dad) grew. Reduce it by abt a yr and guess when she'll shoot up? Shd give approx idea of how long before next sale...

hehe, was so long ago i can't remember when i grew, and as my mum is only 5ft and i'm 5ft6'' i've always felt tall!!:D
perhaps i will keep looking at the 12.2's:)

Maybe pics are when kids are out growing these 12.2hh?
It just shows how kids vary, my daughter is 9, is 4'8" and is 2lb short of 7 stone.
She's now out growing her 13.2hh and she's only had her 16 months, so try and consider growth without over horsing your daughter. Get the right 12.2hh, and she'll be fine, temprement is so much more important with kids ponies than size x
