As the title says really. My daughter is 6 , very tall for age, confident on ponies and it going to be tall - size 1 feet.
She is on a 11.2hh tricky pony just now. The RDA group I am secretary off has just acquired the most stunning connemara 6 year old (13.2hh approx). Fabulous temperament and very easy to train.
I have fallen in love and he is a real girls pony and £1500!
Would I be mad to buy him for the group and loan him back to the RDA until said daughter is ready for him??

If you think he'll fit the bill for your daughter when she's older and you're in the position to buy then go for it :) You'll be giving something to the charity but also getting something back from it in the future :D

It will definately fit the bill - needs to mature but has the most amazing nature. Even the vet commented how laid back / friendly it is.
Love it but am I being premature??

I think really if its what you want 13.2 is fine. Only problem is when their little lots of stuff is restricted to 12.2 & under, but in a few years that won't matter anyway. I've got a tall 7yr old with an 11.1 (who takes up her long leg well for a dainty pony) I think she's probably got two years on her tops. She'll then move onto my 14.2, who she's always ridden. She's had no problem cantering & jumping her over the last year too. If the 14.2 wasn't a ready made school mistress, I certainly wouldn't be going for a 12.2, I'd want a 13.2.

It sounds to me that you believe in this plan but are meerly seeking a little reassurance. As with most things in life ,go with your instinct, If you go ahead and it doesnt work out the way you have planned , so what. The only things we ever regret are the things we never did. Your gut instinct is that this is a good horse. Go with it!
