What size rug for a 14hh Haffy?

I can measure him tonight but Ive just seen s bargain on ebay :O)

I am after a cooler rug. Hes a typical round Haffy and 14hh. What size cooler would you buy?

The one I am looking at is size cob 5'6 to 6ft. That should be fine id guess :O)

That's a bit of a difference for one rug!
I would say 5'9" especially as he's cobby

My old 14.1hh fell cross took 6ft in rugs - the same size as my 15.2hh anglo, so build makes a huge difference. How stocky is your Haffy? The one my friend had was built like a brick outhouse and was very wide between the front legs.

My 13.3 welsh takes a 6ft and he's not that broad. If it goes upto 6ft though you should be fine

jesus i had one chunky cob then my 114.2hh cob was a 6ft 3 in rugs haha x

My 14.1 haffie was in a 5ft9 in most rugs and sometime 6ft depending on the rug

My 14.2 Haffy is a 6 foot 6....but in order that she ISNT a 6 foot 6 in rugs she doesnt get to wear any.......

so she is turned out like this...mind you she is in at night in the winter.

serious point intended tho - an unclipped Haffie probably doesnt need a rug - they are designed to keep weight on licking velcro grass in the Alps....

In a cooler it doesn't hurt to go bigger-my 14.2hh coblet is 5ft9, 6ft in cheap makes.

I suspect 5ft 9-6ft due to chunkiness, for a turnout fit matters more I think so I wouldn't worry too much about accuracy for a cooler

Why don't you measure said pony? Its very dependant he looks quite short backed but big shoulders so i would tend to go for slightly larger as its only a cooler. Prob best to have a 5'9 if you can't get to measure him.

Thought id update this. So I measured him tonight eventually.. And he measured a 5ft 3, which seems too small to me so Ill order a 5ft 6 or maybe 5ft 9 as its a fleece cooler.

My 13.3 haffy takes a 6ft rug. He has 1 5ft9 stable rug that fits nice, but anything else has to be 6ft

Nugz is a 14.3 haff and depending on make can take up to a 6'9 rug and he isn't as deep through his shoulder/neck as your's OP.

Amigo coolers fit Nugz really well and his is a 6ft, and is a wee bit short, but I just don't pull his tail over the winter so it covers his bum
