As title really. Getting new horse that a tb and can't decide whether to go for 6ft or 6ft 3 rugs. Need to get her a stable rug for when she arrives and want to get one at your horse live. Have asked owners but no reply yet x

My 14.3 with ginormous quarter horse bum but otherwise tb shaped is between a 5ft9 and a 6. Both are ok but the 6 is roomy so I'd agree with captain mouse. 6ft should be ideal.

Thanks for those :)
My 15.2 cob in 6'3 to 6'6 depending on make so thought she would be slightly smaller. Have a 6ft turnout which should fit just wanted a stable rug for when she arrives x

It would depend on her length and type. Our flat type TBs have 6'. There are some Flat-breds that are going hurdling (so with more substance), some are in 6' while a couple with big shoulders have 6'3" but their rugs are not generously cut. The NH bred horses are all bigger in every way so no help to you. The make of rug you get will have a baring on the size. Cheaper rugs tend to be less generously cut, if there are pleats in the shoulders it makes them more roomy, is it made for cob types with a deep neck or with a high cut neck? Will you need to put much underneath or is it warm enough to be on it's own or with a thin underrug? All things to consider as well as her conformation (length of back, width of chest, depth of neck).

I've got a 15.3hh tb in a 6ft tho in some makes she easily fills a 6'3 - so aim for a 6 ft but check with the sales team how the rugs brand is for being true to size - I have sometimes had a rug shortage in prolonged rain or when some of mine were stolen & she was fine in a 6'3 adjusted ofcourse..she's lightweight but it certainly didn't drown her.that was Weatherbeeta ..also depends if you are putting other rugs under at any point (ie if fully clipped & it suddenly goes arctic on us)...but yes generally 6ft should be more than fine..happy shopping!
