because his neck is what sweats the most so it has to come off, but I like to have his bum covered for standing about sj, when we actually make it to some
and as he is perhaps getting a little older he doesnt need it all off as he doesnt sweat on top of his bottom
isn't a full clip with legs left on a hunter clip??
Mine have everything off apart from a rectangle or lozenge saddle patch, i can't stand actual saddle shaped patches. Mine only spend a few hours a day out, compete sj regularly and i weirdly enjoy clipping legs
At the moment, full with half a head, small patch on her back and 3 and 1/2 legs left on (half a leg got clipped attempting to find a point of entry when her leg blew up
)
When I clip her again, will have to now take the legs off aswell as I cannot take it out in public looking as she does!
Hunter clip (ie legs, saddle patch and half head left on). Think some people have ticked full when they actually mean hunter.
If S didn't go out every day I would love to see her with her head clipped out completely as I think it would look v smart. Wouldn't take her legs off though, as her hair protects her legs well out hunting.
Other mare Flo is still hairy though as she is only hacking at the moment. She will have a blanket clip as soon as I start work in the school again (she is a TB and too bony to take the hair off her back).
Hunter - I eventually decided to leave legs on, although they are possibly the worlds hairiest legs which looks silly for dressage especaily with my lines, I do like to have the protection for hacking and cross country and general silly thoroughbred moments. I leave a saddle pad on as he's slightly cold backed. He has to be clipped out as he sweats like a pig, even clipped out, does come with beautiful vet bills. Last clip took two calls out
Full, with legs on and front of face, left on as she started to get bored and fidget and seen as tho i'd been told she needed sedation i kinda gave up
Weather permitting she is in a fair amount of work 3/4 flat sessions one of which a lesson usually hour and a half couple of hacks one of which is 5 miles each way and then a 30/40 min jumping session and a day off, if im short of time Mr Pessoa will come out
QR- it started as a blanket but went wrong (i normally just clip everything off) so trainer made it into a trace- i think its a trace anyhoo. decided not to clip everything off as it was V's first clip and he's cold backed
Toto has a hunter, he's ridden 4/5 times a week in winter, as often as possible weather permitting. He grows a very thick winter coat, a hunter suits him best with his fluffiness and the amount of work he does. Luckily once he's clipped he does keep it quite well, as he has to be sedated so he's only clipped once a year!
Full, everything except legs. Because he is in hard work, it looks smart for hunting and competing and is easier to cool down/wash off without risking him getting a chill. Worked 5 or 6 times a week, hunts or competes at least once a week (in the hols
