For some reason (ok, financial)) I tend to end up with project horses. And I mean PROJECT! This weekend I have travelled over 1,000 miles (not all equine related) but came home with Dillon, a ISP x TB who has severe bucking issues due to an ill fitting saddle. He now has a clean bill of health but his memory says being ridden hurts. There is a post in gallery and I would be grateful for feedback. He was sold last November for over £4k, is BSJA reg etc. What sort or horses do you search for on the sites? be honest now!

At the moment I just ride for others, far too poor to afford one of my own again for a while. But the horses I'm drawn to tend to be cheeky ones, not badly behaved in the extreme, just cheeky with a few quirks :) Although that said the veteran BFG I ride for someone at the moment is pure class and an utter gentleman and although we never venture beyond a gentle canter he has been one of the loveliest rides I've had since he has a very sweet temperament :) :)

I travelled 250 miles to get my mare - and again it was finances - I wanted a heavy horse to ride and couldnt find many under 3k, so found my mare, very green and paid just over 1k, shae was terrible with her feet so easily fitted a project horse catagory, but I would now describe her as......................a bargain!!

I always look for coloured cobs, if I won the lottery I would have a whole herd of them. I really want a proper Gypsy Cob (not that Bodey isn’t, but just one that is really stocky with lots and lots of hair).

I'm drawn to mares with attitude. I like a sharp, intelligent horse with a mind of its own who's not afraid to show it! I like cockiness, confidence and preferably ginger hair!

I like project horses as well. I've got Jazzy at the mo who I've been kinda reschooling for a couple of years now. Just chilling him out as he was galloped hard by his last rider.

When I was younger I had a few yards/owners asking me to ride/sort out their horses for them which was nice, but I've got Jazzy now who takes my full attention!!!

haha :D ^^this! Except I go for bays :D and I like smaller horses, with pony brains ;)

another vote for gypsy vanners. I simply cannot drive past a field of them without stopping to say hello. Totally addicted :D

Anything which is unbroken and opinionated and likely to wound me horribly when I get on it. Must be a masochist and not know it

^^^ I ditto this ^^^^
BUT I generally go for under 15.2hh black hair wonders, and always get drawn towards duns too - never get a bad one!!

I love the gypsy cobs too!! have a 3 year old that i'm breaking at the mo!! and I have the most adorable yearling that is sooooooo heavy, with loads of hair. I just love him, hopefully we will have loads of fun when the time comes. He's so cheeky. I got him as a foal, for my 30th birthday. My ex's dad gave me the pick of the foals as a birthday present, and i picked him, because at 5 days old, he left his mother and wondered over to me in the field and let me rub him. I called him batista, after the wrestler, as he is so strong!!!
I love gypsy cobs because of their nature, they are quirky, without the attitude of the warmblood/thoroughbred's.

Wow you all sound just like the type of person I'm looking for... due to a sad change in fiancial circumstances I am having to get rid of my gelding asap, not really a project as pretty good but no time to advertise really as can't afford the next livery bill as all my savings have now gone and no change on the money side. I need someone like you guys to come knocking on my door!

I have the pleasure of riding one of my OH's New Forest pony's. He is cheeky naughty chap with a great personality, and I would not be without him.

However, I am REALLY drawn to Chestnut TB's, preferably geldings. I have met quite a few and they always seem to have great personalities. I also have a thing for Arabs, so I guess my (theoretical) perfect horse would be a Chestnut Arab gelding.

The chances of me owning either are negligible, but a chap can dream.

Mares. ISH or warmblood. 16hhish. Must be nice natured, easy to do, forward going and love to jump. I can't be doing with difficult horses any more. Life's too short, and this riding lark is supposed to be fun! :p

Usually show jumping ponies of 14.2hh, preferably cute and part welsh or connemara. Although I always find I like riding the trickier, fizzier ones, so will probably end up with a bucking bronco! :D xx

tough, plump, chunky (but not cobby) native ponies, preferably with no feather. so nf /connie/welsh d (only if not feathery!) cant seem to look at anything else! certainly nothing over 15.2 !!!

16hh+, good looking and with expressive paces. Tall and lean, not too chunky, generally WB or TB types. Sharp to ride, must have a trot and canter that I would want to ride all day long! Something with plenty of power.

Chestnuts and greys - connie/irish types but oddly ended up with an veteran eventer WB!

Now I enjoy natives and warmbloods.... I'm easy me.

Yellow Quarter horses apparently, as I have three, and a ginger half bred.

Arabs for their personalities, and sheer joie de vivre, I haven't been without one for 20 years and won't be for as long as I can have them at home.

I like my horses fairly small so that I have a fighting chance of actually getting on from the ground, I like some get up and go. I can't be doing with something that is hard work, when I say "go" in whatever gear, I expect them to keep at that until asked otherwise. When I ride, it is for enjoyment, kicking on a bone idle plod every other stride is not my idea of fun.

Smart, intelligent, tall, lean, athletic, bit of attitude, chestnut Tb mares and must have some white on them. In fact anything similar to my mare. i think I have my perfect horse.
would also like a black one.

Elegant, classy throughbreds! Not to big. They must be pretty, move nicely and have lots of scope. I like a horse that looks like an overgrown show pony. They must be brave, sensitive and intelligent. A horse that I don't have to kick or pull!! They must have a good attitude though and be genuine and willing to work.

I don't like heavier horses, they don't suit me. I won't tolerate nutters either or anything that tries to get me off. I won't tolerate anything that's silly or ungenuine. Don't mind a bit sharp though, rather that than something too dull :)

I like eventer types but not the gangly thoroughbreds, more tb x types. or irish sports horses, irish tb's that aren't gangly or irish draught x tb.

i like sane horses that have a bit of spark, i don't want to plod, but i don't want them spinning on the spot and taking off! at the moment i'm drawn to things i can learn from but do also like looking at younger pretty types.

also i'm drawn to tall horses, 16hh+ at least, my horse is 17hh. and dark horses with big blazes and long white socks. although that'd be a nightmare to keep clean. and i like good allrounders, willing to try a bit of everything, but eventers draw me particularly as i would love to event...eventually.
