flash type has small hooks on the end.. any ideas what its called? Thanks
It's called a worcester noseband, and each side of the strap fixes around the bit rings.

I've been told that they keep the bit higher in the mouth and reduce bar pressure, although increase pressure on the nose and add some degree of poll pressure (though I can't quite see the physics for that). Similar-ish to a kineton really, though I think they are better used with either unjointed or lozenge/french link type mouthpieces than those with a single joint![]()
