All being well, I am putting my mare Dolly in foal next year. I want to breed something for myself that I can go out and have fun on. I would like something a bit lighter than her, but not too light. She has the most amazing temperament and is sound. Although I am aware she isn't perfect conformation wise, there isn't really anything to make you think no way (I hope). I have been taking a lot of advice from my instructor who breeds sports horses, and she can't see any reason why I shouldn't breed from her.

So, any suggestions what Stallion to use? I'm not fussed about colour, although a coloured would be nice

I would really depend on your budget, as the sky is the limit as they say. There are so many nice horses around, would also depend on if you wanted to have her AI'd or covered naturally, as the distance for a natural covering could come into the equation.

So to give a more valued opinion would need some more information.

How tall is she? How tall roughly would you want the foal to mature at?

There are some gorgeous stallions around when you get your eye in, have you got this years copy of the breeding H&H, there were lots in there.

MFH, thankyou. She is a fab mare and so willing.

Every Stallion I look at I think is the one! Will be saving this thread and giving things lots of thought.

I would have said a smaller stamp of thoroughbred would suit you perfectly. Sallyf on here has a very nice little black one, and meastro on here owns Weston Justice who I dont think is that tall (but might be a little bigger than you want)

Brain isn't engaged today, hence the seperate posts.

Theres a 16h TB stallion called Bollin Terry, he was at West Kington last year, back in Scotland but avalible by AI this year. Can try and get the contact details for you.

Thanks Volatis this is a pic of my little chap well he isnt that small full up 15.3.
We have just moved to the Hert/Essex borders so would be happy to have visitors.
Avaliable AI or natural cover ,actually we have an ad in H and H this week.

I have just bought an Alderfarn VII youngster - he is 15.3hhs coloured colt, 3 years old and we are standing him in Yorkshire. He is having a few selected mares this year and then more next year.

He is currently training to the dummy so we can offer a chilled semen service.
