What supplements to feed to prevent tying up?

what quantity of Bicarb would you feed? Horse still tying up on fibre based feed looking for something else that might help ! heard selnium or Vitamin D ?

I fed NAF d-ty when my horse had it, but to be honest if its managed properly and you are careful what you feed there shouldn't be a need. Correct warm up cool down etc

Access to a salt lick.

What are you feeding? A diet overhaul might be drastically required.

As a feed stuff D&H ERS pellets are meant to be excellent for horses prone to tying up

Look at the Vetoquinol products - I successfully used Triforce C on a 4* horse that tied up. May have been coincidence but I really think it helped.

I agree that what you leave out is generally more important and effective than what you add - starch and sugars are a no-no. No point adding some fancy supplement if the basic diet is slightly off. Also, I believe there are different underlying conditions that can lead to tying up, so it may depend on that underlying diagnosis.

In The title.

OH keeps advising to feed Bicarb of Soda ! Anyone heard of this before?

From what I read they seem to think a rock salt lick in the stable and give the horse sea salt and a seaweed supplement for the electrolytes and banana or apple cider vinegar for increase in potassium levels.
