So the guys are on soaked hay and now muzzled when out. I need to buy some more supplements to make up for the vit/min loss. I was using NAF general purpose.. Any advise on one specific for horses kept this way? thanks
I would add in a bit of MagOx or calmag at this time of year, as fast growing grass is sometimes deficient in magnesium.
Don't know what the Naf is like for copper and zinc, but those 2 are both often a bit lacking generally in forage and grazing.
I give mine those 3, plus ground linseed, brewers yeast and salt at this time of year, and he does very well on it, he's not on an all-purpose supplement though, and he gets vit E in the winter.
My boy is on soaked hay and muzzled when out and he just has Baileys lo-cal balancer for his vits and mins mixed in with his hi-fi lite and joint supplement, seems to do the job and made a real difference to his feet when he first went on it.
My girls are on grass, will have a bit of soaked hay when the grass gets a bit low (before they're moved to their next paddock which has long, not-so-sugary grass) & have HiFi Lite which is fed to give them the NAF General Purpose supplement you're using & they look great on it right now! Don't be too quick to go out & buy loads of expensive supplements, as anything that's eaten & not used at the time of digestion is just pooped out If they're looking good, I'd keep it as simple as possible
