What Surfaces Can Cope With Very Cold Temperatures?

I hate the bearer of bad news Mrs. Mozart but having done the sums myself, I don't think you'll be able to field a 60x60 for £20K! I should think your surface alone will be that kind of money... :(

Sshhhh. Don't tell D, it will only upset him :D :D. He's the optimistic sort lol

I've mentally put £30k aside and that is my maximum (D will come round to it :D), so will have to start working on figures at some point.

Being realistic, I'm not sure that many places will allow that size arena, but it's what I want if I can get it :). Tired of having horses and not being able to ride for half of the year (being broken apart!), or having to work on wonky surfaces and within odd shapes. Plus, if the Dizz can't jump, then we might just have to give this stressage thing a go, but D1 will want jumps left out . Come to think of it, I have a friend who owns a few quarries; no idea if the right sort, but wouldn't that be grand if one were (and if he was in a really, really good mood... :D).

you are better with a quality 20 by 40 that works all year, than a 60 by 60 where something is compromised .. either drains or surface etc.

True :D. But whatever we have, it won't be compromised :D. We will build what we can afford to build (and get permission for, fit in, etc.). I want a 60x60, so if I can get it I will :D. It might be that something like the fencing around that waits for a while, or the full set of jumps that D1 doesn't get for a while, but we'll look at the figures and work out what can be done :D.

Once it's done, we'll throw an arena party lol.
