Our youngster is teething....again.

She's been getting very worried about the bit being taken out of her mouth & often lifts her head at the point the bridle is taken off, which at 18hh, is a little difficult to avoid it catching on her lower set.
Today, she got really bad a went backwards, whilst lifting head and catching the bit on her teeth.
I set about trying to get the bit in & out of her mouth to try to undo the disaster before it becomes a habit.
She hated the bit, but would accept the leather rein.

So, I thought about taping the bit whilst she's teething so it didn't bang on her teeth as the bit comes in & out. (plastic bits are not an option as she chewed through a few yrs ago).

-What tape do other people use & what are the pros & cons?

Yes, the EDT has been (every 6months) and she's just a late developer.

put her in a happy mouth or similar. dont see how she can chew through it if it goes in horse works and it comes out again! if fitted correctly. at least it wont clunk with the teeth going in or out!

just some vet wrap or chamois leather sewn around the mouthpiece (thats what we did with all the stallion bridles).

alternatively, undo the bit at one side and drop it out like that for a while... not a permanent thing, just until she forgets and it stops been a habit to fling her head up :)
