horse adverts where people put on video/pictures of people standing up on horses backs with their arms outstretched or riding down a road with both arms out to the sides or sat backwards on a horse or sitting underneath a horse or riding with one hand on their head?

Sorry but I cannot see the advantage of any of this whasoever, surely if they are trying to get the point across that their horse for sale is quiet I can think of many more ways of showing this.

Why do they do it and does it annoy anybody else?

While it might show that the horse is safe, I'm afraid I just end up thinking the owners are a bunch of total idiots, then I flick past the ad and check out different horses!

Ditto, I don't care for that.

Give me a good decent conformation shot, a good trot ridden shot, and a good photo overa fence [if it jumps]. And would prefer a short video of it lunging or free schooling to show it's natural movement.

I saw that advert on horsequest too and thought wtf! The video was silly and I think they were aiming it at novice, first time owners. It was a trade ad. ... I don't need to be able to stand on my horses saddle either. I have no plans to join the circus ;)
I'm looking for a nice cob for my OH but that video didn't do it for me. I'm in no hurry and am going to wait until I find a real cracker.

Ooh, I am glad it isnt just me!!

There seems to be loads of them about, I would like a video of the horse bolting off while somebody is stood on its back or they should maybe advertise "Bad back included" after standing on the pommel of the saddle with all their weight or when there are 2 big people sat on it backwards?

I am also liking the one with the small girl riding the big horse through the village with the reins in her teeth and both arms to the side - really handy to know that is - I often ride along like that, leaves my hands free to read a good book or go on my laptop!!

What is it all about??

Not what I'd use but it doesn't put me off, I am a confirmed sceptic anyway and tend to rely on my own eyes when viewing horses. Photos are a mere moment in time.

If I was advertising a childs pony as very quiet etc then it could be the sort of photo I would use in further, private, communications to illustrate a point.

How people choose to ride their horses is of no concern to me, they won't be riding it if I buy it so they can do what they want. :)

problem with that is, what other idiotic things are they getting up to with the animal that could be possibly detrimental to it?
