What the hell, 2 year old ridden filly!

This is the third thread on this particular advert
If you check NEDONLINE this pony's d.o.b was 25th May 2009 so being sat on at fractionally over 18 months old

There is a huge difference between backing/breaking at 3 and at rising two. This pony is still technically a YEARLING!

I know. It's just quite a lot of people seem to think three is too early too so just thought I'd mention it :D

Obviously if it is actually being ridden as a yearling that's awful. If someone sat on it for thirty seconds it's probably forgiveable. I wouldn't but probably isn't going to kill it either.

In the USA any horse that has lost its foal tail seems to be broken in. Quite common for 2 year olds to be ridden and show classes at 3. These aren't lightweight riders either.
When my sister moved to the USA she was appalled, but everyone looked at her as if she was mad and thought nothing of it.

So would y'all have a go at me if I advertised my horse as a ridden youngster when he's 2.5yrs old? Yes, i'm sure you would. Racehorse that didn't make the cut, the yard did make a start on his re-education so he can indeed be advertised as a "riding horse". Just because I could advertise him so and add on a picture to show it, doesn't mean he is.

Incidentally, before you go in search of a pitchfork to stab at me with, I've turned away since i've had him.

my filly at 33 months (now) after having the summer off, in training for next years Futurity classes (reining). I dony much like it but if I want to compete seriously in reining classes, thats how it is!

She is doing incredibly well and about 90 per cent of what she is doing comes naturally to her(spins, sliding stop etc)and none of it is forced on her. She was a sour faced cow who bit and threatened to double barrel when she was being a baby, now that she's in 'work' she is genuinely happier and a nicer person altogether.
Each to their own.
