What the hell is wrong with some people?

Have just been told a very distressing story. A friend of a friend was exercising her hounds in her local forest, when one hound took off after a lil furry creature, said dog ended up getting hit by a car on a nearby road. According to the person who eventually stopped to recover the dog, which was writhing in pain in the middle of the road, numerous car drivers were swerving to avoid the dog, nobody stopped, plenty were slowing down to have a good gawp etc. What in the name of god is wrong with people??? I once retrieved a cat from the side of the road and that had been dead for some while, because I couldn't bear the thought of it left there.

:(

Is the dog OK?

Have had two escapees hit by the same car, and thank God someone came down to get my mum. Not everyone would have stopped, I think because of their breed.
I've actually dispatched a rabbit I'd seen hit by a car, and a pheasant.

I did stop after I hit a cat which ran out in front of me late at night, I was going to fetch it when another car came around the corner, I tried to flag it down (Jeez, I could have been a lone female in distress, for all they knew!) and it flew past and totally obliterated the poor wee thing :( I'm not a huge cat fan but I was so upset, rang my OH at 2am sobbing down the phone to him. Barstewards!

Oh how awful - I take it it didn't survive then?

Some people are clueless and would rather gawp than get involved. Can't imagine having to see your own dog go through that :(

The lovely man that stopped and picked the dog up, took him straight to the vets. The dog has got serious internal injuries apparantly and its not looking good,:(. Fingers crossed though, will let you know when I hear any news.

I saw something similar on the motorway this morning.

I happened to look in my rear view mirror to see what traffic was around me, and saw my biggest bug bear ever - people driving in the middle lane, but not actually overtaking anything.

Anyway, horror of horrors - the most beautiful male pheasant was strutting from the central reservation across the (empty) fast lane and straight into the middle lane. The middle-lane hogger drove straight into him. No attempt whatsoever to move over (yet had PLENTY of time to do so) as the pheasant was hit by the wheel nearest the slow lane, which was also empty at the time.

When she overtook me (finally - took her nearly 5 minutes) she was smirking. How could anyone do that? I know that pheasants aren't the most intelligent birds, but to deliberately mow one down with no attempt to avoid it?

Was in tears most of the way home.

I hope that the dog is OK - I don't understand people sometimes :(

Sick old bag:mad:

I am a great believer in Karma, what goes around and all that. I live in a rural area and I have seen drivers deliberately mow down rats, rabbits and pheasants. They must lead sad, miserable lives to get a kick out of doing that.
