What the hell?!

What a load of b******s Th iidiot man didn't even make sure that his girth was fastened properly! If he is a masterhorseman I would hate to see one that still in training!

Old cowboy "tricks"

think its things like that, which monty roberts dad used, and why he tried to find a different approach

I was actually expecting him to tie it so the leg could be lifted from the saddle when I started watching, wasnt expecting him to hop on a horse on 3 legs!

That made me feel sick!! I don't understand the reasoning for this at all. I don't get how the majority of the comments on YouTube are defending this guy either! I do feel that there are more humane ways of dealing with "problem horses" (not keen on that term) then the old fashioned ways demonstrated in this video.

It never ceases to amaze me how calm these "problem" horses always seem to be. That pony's body language looked like it was thinking, "Oh not this again!" There's no sweat, flat ears, biting....

I wonder how many idiots will try this at home on a horse that may be suffering from pain/badly fitting tack etc and end up at best causing more suffering or at worst breaking their horses legs?

I could only watch the first few minutes - what a knob that bloke is , pity the pony didn't fall on him and squash his mean heart.

If I didn't already think that guy was an idiot, the thing that would have really sealed it for me was the fact that he got on the horse on the side the leg was tied up. One day a horse is going to fall over on him if he keeps doing that.

shocking mentality of some 'people'. besides the obvious of him hoisting the leg up you've got the fact that the girth was loose and that he got on from the same side that the leg was up. the poor pony should have fallen on him.

at the end it says that every horse lover should own a copy of his 'masterclass'. umm thanks but i think i'll pass.

Oh my god...notice they say it's a last resort etc etc but he says something to the extent of 'you can tie the leg up...it's probably the first thing you want to do'.

Didn't look like a problem pony to me.

Can the poster of the videos delete comment on YouTube? Cause I'm sure I put something on that video a couple months ago (there's been a thread on these before) and now it's definately gone...

Whereas all the 'pro' comments remain. I'm skeptical.

oh dear.
what.an.idiot.
I dont agree with strapping the leg up, but doing it on the side you are going to mount!? and then i know they ride with loose girths, but check it or get a stool before pulling that thing round on the poor horses back!?

hideous.

strangely i felt unable to put myself through parts 1 , 3 and 4.

i hope one of these days a pony falls on him and crushes his knee or something.

Probably most of the comments are from Americans, where we use methods like this all the time. Both of the cattle horse ranches I worked in used these methods, as well as hobbling, when working with unhandled horses. Strangely, we never used 'twitching'- I never even heard of it until moving to the UK.
