went to see the horses this mornin n there was a woman in ther with 2 kids, young kids as wel. Shouted her over n she waved at me befor trailin down the field towin her kids behind.

Said very politely like wat r you doin here its private land nd there is a locked gate you are nt allowed in here.

to which she replied " aw but the kids wanted to ride the 'litte horse' by this they ment Morris haha

lucky dad wasnt with me but cldnt deny this little gal a go so she sat on Mav for abit and kindly asked the woman nt to go into the field again as if Morris hadnt of been in the pen with Riley he wld of charged em nd he kicks haaha:)

just wonderin if there s aything else i can do to kieep people out ! ud think it was common sense with the 5 bar gate nd padlock:)

People are just odd.

Turned around at a show once to see someone had plonked a baby.....yes, a baby.....on the shetties back:eek:

Luckily she never moved a muscle, but they weren't to know that.

Maybe try electrifying the gate:D

Ano, they must of jumped the fence haha!

god people dont think u wldnt do it with a strange dog

good idea ;) haha

OMG i can't believe that, what a cheek. you were very nice to let the kid have a wee sit. you would think a padlocked gate would be enough to keep people out. maybe put up a sign saying that horses kick and strictly no entry to field.
why do people think they can do things like this.
OR...could have been one of the cougars from here found out where you are and are stalking you!! :D x

A sign saying private land- keep out. Also guard dogs running loose is always a good one ;)

yeh think am gna have to construct a sign n put kickin horse on it ! they were lucky because he is a little ***** somedays !

It was probably one of the HHO ladies! they managed to track you down. Come on own up, who was it? :D

No seriously there are some odd people out there. I was once hacking my mare down a quiet lane, A minibus pulled up along side of me, the driver wound down the window and said "lovely Horse, if I pull over in the next layby, can my children have a go on your Horse?" there were about 8 kids in the back!!!! I said no, my Horse was very on her toes that day. She had the cheek to huff, then I passed her again later so she waited until I was right next to car and bibbed.

aww lol, softy!
get a sign saying cougars will be shot lol x

haha, ano need to grow a pair (quoted from dad)

haha shal add tht to the bottom in red

really ? i swear people think they r machines n then when one of em falls off u r the evil woman with a mental horse haha :)

Nothing says it better then a sawn-off ;) lol

true words ;)

Maybe add a line to your sign saying "Horses may bite".

I think that's safe enough - the statement is true, and you haven't said that your horses bite :D

We get regular intruders in the field with carrots etc., and even bringing their small children to pat the horseys.

Why pick the field with the playful 17hh horse and his 16hh companions? Why not pick the field down the road with the friendly Shetland? I just wonder about people sometimes

I had a woman come storming down my driveway to complain that my fence had electrified her daughter, that I was evil and a danger to society.

So I asked her what her daughter was doing in my field to get to the electric fencing - 2 feet away from the main fence.

Her reply? She wanted to sit play with my ponies and ride one of them...

It was a field with 3 1,2,&3yo shetland colts in. Luckily they were all good natured and they never got near them due to being zapped but why would someone think they had the right to let their kids go and play with some strange ponies in the middle of nowhere without even consulting the owner first?!? Madness!

hopefuly the brat learnt a lesson `!

i really do think people belive they r machines :mad:

I find 'these horses have lice, do not touch' works well. We were out hacking once, & as we normally do stopped to let a toddler & dad pat them. Quick as a flash the guy tried to stick the kid on daughters pony with her. Luckily, daughter turned pony quickly. But then guy was arguing because he didn't understand why I wouldn't let my 7yr old hold a hatless toddler in front of her on the pony & go for a little ride.

My friend gets this! She has a shetland (stallion!) and she's always finding people at her gate. Once when we were walking him, some woman tried to put her toddler on him! Not only is he a stallion, but he's only 2! People are crazy.

I looked up tresspassing compensation.

All sites googled seems to be in agreement with it... the first one opening with the line... "kids will be kids".
If you have something alluring the other side and they can get in, you haven't fenced it off properly.
Examples given... a poisonous bush and a building site. So should imagine horses would be considered alluring.
Signs don't make an odds because you don't know that a child is able to read.

Personally I think that the kid is either young enough that the parents should be there keeping an eye, or old enough that you have given them responsibility to be out alone knowing that there are dangerous things in the world!
