Cheap to keep, good guards and you'd get eggs too!
 
It does make you wonder what goes on in some peoples head. Don't understand why they think it is ok to trespass because the precious kiddy wants to play ponies, or worse to assume they are entitled to a ride. As we all know horses are expensive, I don't mind letting people/kids pet them or have alittle ride if they are polite :)

The other day I saw from my window two kids and an adult in my field (luckily not the bit the horses were in as I was strip grazing through this piece) my OH went upto talk to them and they saw him and legged it, he carried on walking up field and was shouting 'Excuse me' they ignored him for abit but eventually did stop and OH politely asked what they were doing etc, the response was the kids wanted to pet the ponies (not setting a very gd example to them) OH just said please don't enter the field as the kids could get injured etc. Don't think the guy was very happy but how/why they think they can do what they want?! My horses aren't used to kids although I expect they would be fine but still ......

I found a bloke in my field last year, having a good look under my tarp :eek: Luckily had the dogs with me, asked what on earth he thought it was doing its private property 'ive got a right to roam I can go where i like' er no you cant, especially not when it involves climbing a barbedwire fence marked KEEP OUT

I pretended to ring the police saying I was a lone female with a strange man in the field he legged it.

Hate people who go near my horses without permission. Ive now got a dangerous horse sign :o
 
They were with an adult if it was jus Kids then I mayb wouldnt of been as angry

Dont no how I can make it more secure without it been an eye sore 4 neighbours :(
 
I have sometimes found people and their dog(s) in my field trying to get to the main road. Our fields back on to a large public park which is 'the' dog walking park round here. When I ask what are they doing they ask if they can go through our back garden to get to the road...er 'no' I say, 'go back the way you came! '

'oh but we can't as we had to climb over a barbed wire fence/go through a stream and a fence/go over a gate and through the electric fence'

'Precisely why you shouldn't be in here And NO you cannot go through my garden'
 
We had a similar problem a couple of years ago, the OH made up an offical looking sign on the computer stating that the horses were recieving attention from the vet for a contagious condition and pinned it to the gate.

Funnily enough that stopped the visits and we had no more problems
 
My sister used to work in a zoo.

There was a huge wire domed leopard pen, around the perimeter of which was a bit of "no man's land" then a high fence keeping leopards and people apart.

Several times staff witnessed visitors climbing up and lowering their small children over the outer fence so they could get a closer look at the leopards! :eek::eek:

If people are too dim to realise a leopard might not be "tame" and safe for their kiddies, what chance do we have of them understanding horses may not be either? :confused:

:eek::eek::eek: gives me an idea though, leave a pair of childs shoes hanging on the gate with a sign saying , 'horse will bite, look what happened to the last child ';):D

we did a similar thing with the 16foot python we had in work, left an odd trainer in his viv, when anyone asked about it we'd just say' OMG wondered what had happened to karl, thought he was off sick:eek: ' usually took a minute or 2 for them to catch on:D:D
 
someone was once going to stuff their 3/4 yo daughter on top of my 16.3 tb... in a stable... I was gob smacked. He didnt even ask me!

i was once going down the livery yard to take my pony on a hack.at the time he was on part livery.i always used to tell them when i was going to ride most of the time,but on this occassion i didnt.imagine my horror driving down the lane to the stables was some girl riding my pony with some others from the yard.i went mental and it wasnt the first time it happened either.-the flaming cheek of it.:mad:

Really?!? And there was me thinking that all animals in the zoo's were perfectly trained, tamed pets that let you pat them and stroke their bellies whilst they purr with delight!

Damn! That's my illusion well and truly shattered!
 
I think allowing the kids to sit on the horse was not the best idea. I would have done a slightly mental scream about get off my land etc to discourage rather than allow her to do as she wanted. Now she's going to tell all her mates that the nice lad let little whoever sit on the pony. :(

With people having picnics and allowing their fabulously untrained dogs to chase the horses (ooh, but they like it, they're running up to the dog! :rolleyes: :eek: :mad:) or people throwing pounds of carrots at the horses' heads then whinging when I went mad, I have had enough of idiots and am delighted that I'm no longer on a yard on a main road.

make a sign saying 'a bull lives with these horses, you may not see him but he sure can see you....only enter if you can run faster than him'

The problem with this world is that humankind has evolved to such a point where natural selection doesn't take place anymore... If it did... These type of morons would have been wiped out :mad: seriously, what Prats, it's like the parent that walks along with a buggie and just pushes it out there into the rd to stop the cars so that they can cross... Makes you want to find a way of hitting the parent and leaving the buggie untouched...:mad:
