im desperatly seeking transport to take prince to endells clinic in salisbury from north somerset, the local place that hires out 3.5tonners u have to be 25 to be covered and its £75 a day :O! none of my family have a 4x4 and none of my family are horsey so wouldnt know where to start with towing! ( i would be a nervous wreck!) i have a couple of friends with 3.5tonners but what is the likely hood of me getting insured on them?? hes going up on wednesday 11th and coming back the following saturday afternoon! wednesday is ovbiously an awkward day as people are working!

Would think insurance will be expensive, but you could try SEIB, they might be able to help or if you are borrowing from a friend would their insurance company put you on for a short time.
Failing that it may be cheaper to hire a lorry with a driver.

iv spoken to a few friends, if i cant find anything then looks like well be buying a horsebox earlier then expected! nothing is ever straight forward!

at 20 i paid about 300 with nfu for a transit box,

ive hired from lots of companies that say over 25s only, but when ive spoken to them they did insure me, but upped the excess i would have to pay. I think thats how most of them work

I was insured on my first 3.5t at 18. The only thing I would point out is that it's one thing to be insured on a lorry and another to be happy driving it. If you haven't driven a 3.5t before, make sure you've got plenty of miles under your belt before putting a horse in it and do several short journeys with the horse onboard before setting out on a long journey.
