i'm gonna get abby a nice new polypad, but i don't know what thickness to get?? she has very high withers and is ever so slightly sway backed (no issues with it but don't want there to be any issues) so i want her to be super comfy, plus my nice girl deserves the best for being so good since i've got her lol!!! cause theres 3 thicknesses, should i go for the thickest??

If your saddle fits, just get a thin saddlecloth. The polypads are so thick they can make a well fitting saddle not so good.

kl, she is ridden in thick saddle cloths just now, the don't fit her saddle to great tho unfortunatly, but its what she came with so its all i have to use till i get paid on friday

FINALLY!! so i'll probs just get the normal thickness one then

The thickest is stupidly thick. We had one for a horse at work (cold backed) and it was so thick that as soon as you mounted, it deflated and the girth LITERALLY hung below his belly a good few inches! Not very safe if something spooks him as soon as you get on! It also made him more uncomfortable, so it went and he got his gel pad back.
The thinnest ones are ok, but still too thick IMO for a well-fitting saddle. That's all you need really, and unless your saddle has been fitted with the numnah and/or pad you intend to use, you can quite easily tip your saddle out of balance and cause more problems than you had in the first place (see the posts on the recent thread about Prolite pads).
If I were you I'd stick with the same thickness of numnah you had your saddle fitted with, but if you really really want to use a thicker one then get your saddler out to make sure the saddle still fits with the pad underneath.

thanks silmarillion i might do that, like i say she is ridden in quite a thick cushion just now, so i might take my one up and compare it to a polypad at the tack shop and see what the difference is,

but these ones are looking so scabby something must be done ha ha!!! i need to get a smart pad for the rideout season, any suggestions?? preferably black or white or both??
