What time are your horses coming in at the moment?

Pregnant arab mare and veteran arab x welsh gelding both out at 7am most days.

Mare in between 2pm and 5pm depending on weather etc (she hates being out in rain, wind, snow..........!) she's also on restricted turnout on her own as she's recovering from colic surgery, and i hate seeing her stand by the gate all day!

Gelding in at 5ish each day

Welsh A filly lives out 24/7.

Crikey! At our yard, all horses are brought IN at about 8am and go back OUT about 2 or 3pm. Yes - out all night, every night come wind, rain, frost, snow! The only alteration was when the heaviest December snow fell/was still falling so we switched them round for 2 days! There are 8 horses on 20 acres and though the grass has gone down now and there isn't much nutrition in it, there's plenty if they work at it. Plenty of natural shelter too. They come in to a breakfast, have a sleep and ad lib haylage while they're in, have a tea (some do) before they go out again. All as happy as Larry. Sometimes I walk into the barn stables at about mid-day and you'd swear there were no horses in there, just somebody warming up an old chain saw somewhere. Peep quietly over the stable doors and all the horses are stretched out snoring! This routine also means they are all in and waiting to be ridden or vet/farrier/etc during the day. And 6 hours in, 18 out makes for easy peasy mucking out, rather than 6 hours out, 18 in! The weather here has been ghastly for the last 3 days, non stop howling wind and heavy rain. All neds still happily out overnight as usual. Only wet ones are my 2 naked shetlands and they are as fat as butter! So far, none have dissolved in the rain, got mud fever or fainted from the horrors of being treated like horses.

work days - out about 6.10am & back in again about 5.30pm.
Non- work days, out about 7.15 & in about 4.30/5ish now.
However, have left them out in 2 small paddocks with hay etc since last Weds night as weather warmer then 2 weeks or so ago & its been dry (round here!).

Forgot last night & left them out - was a right pain getting them in for breakfast at 6.10 this morning (as can't feed them in same paddock as one is a thug over food), then trying to poo-pick with torch in the dark, so they'll be back in tonight on work nights at least, till its light enough to see to poo-pick little paddocks without a torch in the morning.

Horses may not dissolve in the rain, but sometimes their fields do! If I had the amount of grazing you have, then mine would be out all the time as well. However, we have not got a lot of grazing (which is compensated for by the fact we keep them at home), so find that in at night from November to March is enough to preserve the fields in a reasonable state throughout the winter.

Ours live out 24/7 with free access to their stables, which they hardly ever use. When the weather is bad, constant rain, these really high winds and stuff like that then like BOF we bring them in for a few hours a day so they can have a break from the weather, have a sleep, munch some hay. They are always keen to be going out again.

When we couldn't have 24/7 turnout year round because of being on a yard we used to bring them in between 5 - 6pm generally and aim to have them out between 7am and 8am the next morning. The way things are now works best for them though, they are very happy with their routine. However I appreciate that we are fortunate to be able to do this.

Between Nov and March ours go out at 7.30am and come in any time between 2 - 4pm, depending on the weather. This allows them enough time to have a leg stretch, roll and graze, but not get impatient to come in.

Also I find that limiting the grazing from Nov to Mar saves the fields from being trashed - they go out 24/7 by the time the clocks change as we still have grass left regardless of whether it has started to grow or not.

Ours live out most of the time but come in when the weather is bad. Usually come in a 5pm but sometimes between 8pm and 9pm (when we would normally put hay out for them in field) if it's turned nasty. They'll be back out at 8am next morning, although occasionally - like today! - it's completely foul and they're obviously happier in so they'll stay there until it lets up a bit. We're pretty flexible, although in general I like them out as much as possible. :)

Mine only goes out if its dry so at the moment she is in 24/7 with a lean to for turnout when I muck out at night.
When she gets turned out she is turned out by about 9 - 3.30am and comes in at about 3.30pm.
She is stood waiting when they go to catch in!

they go out at 9ish at weekends - then in by about half 4

in the week its normally half 1- half 4

they hate weekends haveing to stay out longer haha.... they are wusses and hate mud/rain etc...but i make sure mine stays out for as long as she can! :)
