What time do you all go to do your horses?!

Weekdays I'm there for 6.15-6.30 ish (depending on whether I hit the snooze button!) - I have 1 in at night, and 2 living out, so turnout the 1 and they all get fed in the field and given their morning haylage whilst I muck out (the joys of just having mine there!). Afterfter work I tend to arrive between 5 and 6, although sometimes can be later. Weekends I'm usually there for 8am, and back again for 4.30.

I feel hideously guilty if I'm late, had awful stomach pain the other day and managed to get them done by 8.55am and felt terrible!

The boys live out over the summer but during the winter they're out about 7-7.30am and then back in again by about 5pm. It can vary a bit depending on whether it's their owner or one of us sharers doing it as our working hours/travel time vary but they're basically out for as long as possible, even if it does mean bringing them in when it's gloomy and dark.

Some of the other horses at the year barely seem to get any turnout. If we've gone for a nice long weekend morning hack and get back to the yard about 11-12ish, they're still in their boxes with no sign of the owners yet and they're usually all well tucked up in bed before I ever get to the yard in the evenings so they must come back in before 3pm.

OH chucks them out on his way to work at 5.30am with hay and then I muck out during the day. They come in about 4ish depending on kids riding and afterschool clubs. They get extra hay about 11pm.

At the weekend they get hay about 7am and then get ridden about 9am and mucked out and then out in the field or out at a competition all day. Occasionally if the weather is hideous they might stay in Saturday afternoon, to save the muddy fields, but generally they are out most of the day every day.

I wouldn't even bother drumming it into them. Just say that if they don't look after their horse you will contact the authorities - and do contact them. If its a child, ring their father at work and leave messages with the receptionists. Poor horse.

Something tells me that sadly they won't listen to the authorities....

No not a child, an adult who is adamant that it's not a welfare issue. :-(

Earlys: up at 5, yard by 6, turn out, muck out poos only, do haynet and water. Leave at 6:30 to get to work for 6:50. Finish at 2:30 and either finish what I didn't in the morning (if I pressed snooze too much!) ride in the school for 20 mins and feed and bed about 4pm

Lates: up at 7, yard by 7:30 if not riding, 8am if I am riding. Someone brings in at again about 4ish

Nights, finish works at 7:15 and turn out 7:30ish. Bring back in at 4

Summer they live out so a bit more relaxed about times. Can be there about 9:30pm after a late which is a nice random time to spot check before the morning. Poo picking is on rota so only do it twice a week. Love turning up just to ride the other 5 days! (I'm missing summer a lot!)

At the yard for between 8am and 8.30am on weekdays, riding, mucking out and chores and turning out at 11.30am. YO brings in and feeds in the evenings. On the weekends YO feeds in the morning as she lives on site, and I come to ride, muck and turn out at around 10.30am.

Weekdays always there by 7.30 and back again in the evening at 6.30. Weekends, morning stint starts at 8.30 and evening at 6 - 6.30.

I like to keep the routine as much as possible so they know when to expect me, also it gives the residents who overlook the field a good idea of when I'll be there so if anyone is around at a different time, they know to make contact with me to find out who is poking about and whether they should be there or not.

Weekday mornings 6.30am, weekends, 8am. They come in between 4.30pm and 6pm, depending on who is bringing in.

Already counting the days until they go out 24/7...

Mine are seen to at 6-6.30 am every day, I don't 'lie in' at weekends as horses don't have any concept of time though they do seem to have their own built in clocks!, so they are expecting me. I turn out by 7am and weather dependent they will come back in between 2 and 4.30pm. They get another net at 9-9.30 pm every night when in. In summer they are out 24/7 though do come in for a few hours each day.

Ours are at home, out 24/7. So 9am for morning check and feed by my husband, followed by me at around 10am purely cos I want morning cuddles. They are checked again at lunchtime, and then again at around 6pm for evening feed and put to bed. That is the bare minimum.... but in reality on days where we are home I can see them from the window and think 'awe aren't they gorgeous!' and then usually find an excuse to go out and 'check' on them about once an hour.... I can't resist!

Unfortunately 0500hrs most mornings, ( shift work) then get them in any time between 1600-2000 depending on shift. On days off, we & they get a lie in ( yippee!) to about 0700! Never later than that. (Summer out 24/7, joy!!!:) apart from the poo picking:( ) no electric round the yard so we can't put the generator on at that time, well we could but I think we might get complaints.. so it's amazing what you learn to do in the dark, rug changes etc. Muck out as soon as we get home, hay/ water/ feeds, then get them in. Sounds chaotic but we have it off to a fine art!

In work days they go out at 7:30 and in at 9pm (or if the weathers bad dad brings them in early) on not work days they go out about 9 and in whenever I fancy. Usually leave it until about 7/8 but if the weathers bad I'll get them about 4. Handy thing about them is they come in themselves so no need to fumble about with lights and ropes.

Goodness, I feel like a bad Mum! Ned's DIY out 24/7 and I don't get there until 4pm if I'm working and about 9am if I'm not.
I know someone will call if he's unwell or injured. There's always someone about, so it's unlikely he'll be unchecked for longer than an hour, if something were to happen.

Between 7-10 in the morn and between 4-6 in the eve, mines out 24/7 and I split daily checks with the owner of the horse I share with. YO lives on site too and checks first thing in the morn and last thing at night.

During working week between 7.30-8.30am and weekends if having a lie in latest I get to yard is 9am. During afternoons she is in about 5pm although this will be pushed back with the lighter and hopefully drier evenings.

Out by 9 latest, if not working normally 7.30.

In anytime, horse here where I live. Love it! Normally in between 5-6 but been Coming in at 3pm recently as they are just fed up with the mud even though the field is well covered in grass they just stand at the gate neighing! Spoilt

All our horses are at home, so we see them all the time! But they're normally turned out at 8.30 in the winter, and in at 4pm. But we're still with them (riding, grooming, mucking etc.) all day anyway :)

No, not a bad Mum, if my field held up better, or the TBs weren't such puffs, I'd love to leave out 24/7!

That's nothing, I'm currently trying to drum it into someone that turning up every 24hrs to a fully stabled horse is not acceptable. Apparently I am 'bang out of order' suggesting it's unacceptable.

I got told this as well! Drives me insane.

Several of my liveries don't turn up till 11 am because I feed first thing and we have automatic drinkers so they reckon their horses are fine. Makes me so cross.

When my horses were at livery, I got up at 5.30am to feed, t/o and muck before 7.00am.

Now we have our own yard. Feed at 7.00am, turn-out 8.00-9.00 depending on day length. Come in 4-5pm depending on day length.

In winter all fed and watered again at 10.00pm.

im up at around 7am, breakfast, muck out, turnout, in around1 in winter, 5 in summer. then back up to snuggle for bed at around 9pm.

I think that too, but currently clambering into snowpants, snowboots, hat, jacket, gloves etc to withstand -15C wears a bit thin, just for a cuddle. nah. Sorry boys and girls :( Keep your heads in your hay.

Mine live out and I work shifts. So mornings they are fed anytime between 4am and 10am. Dinner is between 4pm and 8pm. They have grass, shelter, water and hay and don't seem to care when I turn up.

I get to the yard weekdays between 6.15am and 7.15am. I go up in my lunch break and they are brought in at lunchtime because our fields are desperately wet. I then finish work at 5pm and go up again. Roll on spring when I can leave them out til I finish work! At weekends, I am there by 8am at the latest in the morning.

Me and the other livery share jobs, so i only go up once a day and other livery goes up once. YO lives on site and does checks too.

I get to yard at 7.20 (20 min walk from home), feed breakfast and rug up, they are usually out by 7.30. I then put hay in field, muck my boy out fully, skip the other liveries horse out and set the bed, do both horses haynets, both horses waters, brush the yard and front of stables and then walk back home to get ready for work.

Other livery will then bring them both in at about 3.00 and change there rugs for the night. Sometimes in horrible weather they come in earlier as my boy will stand at the gate weaving.

I can be there anywhere between 8am and 9:30am and 4pm and 6pm in the evenings. however I have had 2 exams starting at 9am this week and so I have left a hay net outside that a fellow livery puts in in the morning and checks water. Mine lives in at the moment so he wasn't too miffed and I went over and sorted him straight after.
