Apparently I'm hard core, twice this week I've gone straight from work to the yard (like I do every evening during the week) but havent got home till 9:45, by the time I've mucked out, bedded down, groomed them both and ridden/lunged one, cooled off, dried them off (if its been raining) waited while before the feeds, swept up and locked up, god knows what time it would be if I rode 2 i one night, then its home, cook and have tea and go straight to bed

the other liveries think I'm going mad, but enjoy it, I could eaily stay down there til midnight if I had half a chance.

roll on summer for 24/7 turnout before my OH forgets what I look like

Definatly hardcore if your getting home at 9.45pm, my OH would forget who i was lol!!! plus he would be sitting there whinging for his tea.

I go straight from work (finish at 4pm) and get home about 7.30pm, have tea, crash on settee before crawling up to bed.

I have got 4, so I'll usually get there at 6 am in the morning, turnout and muck out and feed, and sometimes ride one. Go back there straight after work, bed down, bring in, feed, groom between 1 and 4 and possibly ride another and play a bit with the youngster. Generally finish there around 8.30 pm and am usually the last one out.

Reading this makes me think, I really should get a life.

I think you're perfectly normal! Lol

When I had Eden, I would quite often stay at the yard till late at night - even now, when I have my lessons late (say 7.30-8.30) I end up staying chatting to my instuctor and/or watching her ride (and sometimes getting a ride myself!) her own horse. I'm never ready to go home!

You make me feel guilty! I only ride at weekends until we get light nights back. If I had a school and some lights things might be different. I am on a farmyard and there is just me, so Turbo & Charlie (my shetland) get bedded down after work and thats me done, then back home for a glass of vino!! shocking I know

. Can't wait for Christmas hols to get cracking on my new boy.

Well he spent last year (well Nov to April) making the tea for us both but this year its my turn, so believe it or not yes he does actually sit on his backside in front of the TV waiting for me to get home to make the tea for us

Nothing wrong with that

Give your other half a photo so he can remember what you look like

I was having coaching 730 the other night miles from home in the pouring rain. My oh looks at me in amazement !!!

I normally get in form the yard at about 8.30, which is about the time OH gets back from work so we always argue about who should be cooking (he's been working late, I've been enjoying myself

)

Any time from 5pm (weekends) to 9pm. The yard I was on previously had strict opening hours and I had to be gone by 4pm at weekends, 6.30pm 2 evenings a week, and 7pm 3 evenings a week. It made life really difficult!

Gosh I don't know how you coped with that, was yard that was full livery only? or did they have DYI'ers as well?

Week days don't get to the yard untill 7-7.30 so hardly ever home before 9 and still have to cook when I get in. I have one day off from the yard to keep boyfriend happy.
Your not alone

Scooby is out 24/7 so all I really do is drag him in to groom and ride him, then stick him back out again and that's me done.

He gets fed by whoever's doing yards, so sometimes that's me. When I'm doing evening yards for everyone (as I work there) I usually start getting horses in at between 2 and 3 (in summer this is more like 5), change rugs, put beds down, make and dish out 18 feeds, fill any haynets and waters that need doing and collect empty feed buckets, by which point it's about 5. I like to get finished quite early because it's FREEEZING riding home on my moped when it's about 3,C! I really need to get some thermal undies.

I don't do evening yards often though, I'm the morning girl.

Depending on my work hours I get on the yard between 6:30 and 7:30 in the week.
Frankie is on livery mon to fri but I try and ride or work in hand at least 3 times during week and hack at weekends.
By the time I get home in London it's probably 9:30 at least.
There are 5 of us who do that sort of time so on any one night there are usually 2 or 3 around and using the school.

i get to the yard at 6, and am normally gone by 8 at the latest, normally more like half 7, thats to muck out do hay water feeds, bring in wash off groom, ride/lunge put to bed. im the only DIY at my yard. it takes the full liveries longer than me and they dont even normally ride! what they do is beyond me!hehe!!

In the summer im terrible and can stay til its REALLY late!

but I HATE the winter and im soooo tired after work (i do the mucking out before work) and with this rubbish weather i dont like Bridie getting all wet before bed.....i get to the yard and she is snug in her stable.....if its not raining il do about 15-20 minute groundwork in the school then muck out again while she eats her dinner on the yard then shove her abck in the box with a cuddle and a brush ... so im managing this in about an hour...not rushing at all but seems to be done...so im home at about 7.30! i want the summer back!!!

Normally get home between 7-8.30 depending on what I do with her, and what time I finish work!! I hate winter
frown.gif
Least when I get home that time in the summer it is still light!!
grin.gif

I'm only up there briefly to muck out, hay, water and feed etc...cant ride or do anything else so not much point me being up the yard really late...I hate not having much to do to be honest i'd rather be riding, lunging etc having fun with pony but for me that isnt going to happen for some time yet.;-(

In summer I often go straight from work on the bike and can be back home about 9 - 9.30 if I have both to do and exercise (I don't finish work until 6.30 and it is 1 hour journey to the yard).

In winter I like to grab something to eat first so don't get up until 8 - 8.30 and leave about 10.30 but if work is bad, have been known to be leaving at midnight - thank god my YO is easy going about leaving times.

Luckily OH is normally with me two/three nights a week doing Farra so we get to spend time together.

I finish work at 5-ish normally, mum will have bought them in/fed at 3, so I just have to skip out, hang hay up and change rugs. Normally home by 6
smile.gif

But then, we can't ride as we have no school/field for riding in and it's a tad dark for being out on the roads! Plus the bringing in/feet/feeds etc has all been done- would be longer if not!

At the moment I get home around 6pm as I work part time until 2pm.

From Jan when I get my scary manager job I'll be up the yard at about 6.45pm then I should imagine home about the same time as you Kenzo. At least the OH plays lacrosse till 10pm 3 evenings a week so he won't mind. On the minus I shall get a bit podge from eating so late
grin.gif

I guess am pretty lucky, not working, so for me its down the field at 915 when the kids have been taken to school, by the time ive ridden, poo picked etc its 2pm, dinner collect kids then back down at 4, feed and extra hay then home about 430/5pm before the OH comes in - he moans so much if his teas not ready fro him when he comes home from work
frown.gif
mind you he hates my horses and blames them for everything!!

I've just got one to do so it depends if I ride or not. Weekdays if I dont ride i'll be finished by 7pm and if I do ride its 7.45ish. Weekends i'm normally home by 6pm. At the mo I have fridays off cuz my friend does everything. In summer without having to muck out I was still getting home at same time. I think I was happy to ride for longer and I poo pick field everynight.

The yard closes at 9:30pm, I get home around 10:20pm - used to be a bit further when I lived with the ex but at least he did arrange dinner.

Only a cpl of nights a week though and I don't do the mornings during the week (5day livery).

Feels like a long way to go just to faff if I'm too tired to tack up and ride one night but actually loose schooling, grooming and all the other random things I do with him really help the bonding.

Think I fall into the mad category too..... I usually muck out etc in the morning, as don't get there from work until 7pm usually... have given up trying to ride both each night in the winter, as even with one, it's usually 9pm before I'm finished up. Luckily my OH owns the yard, so he's probably a lot more reasonable than most!!

Does provide a good excuse not to cook - but not so good on the waistline with takeaways
blush.gif
Shall have to work harder in the Spring to shift it all again!!

I finish at 5 at yard by 5.10 get home around 7pm in winter around 9pm or later in summer.

No DIYers, just full livery and working livery. I found it a total pain as I worked 35 miles away so struggled to get there in time to do much in the evenings.

In contrast current yard is much more flexible, there are no official opening hours though out of courtesy I let YO know if I am going to be earlier/later than usual. Having people on the yard at irregular hours has its advantages as if anyone is watching the yard seeing when it will be unattended and planning to break in they will see people coming and going at unpredictable hours.

These days I get home for around 5pm. I finish work at 3, call home to get changed then head to the yard. Im not riding at the minute which helps but even when I was, I was rarely home after 7:30.
