hmm, this is my 2nd winter with my Sec D, last winter she wasnt fed anything, just hay! She looked fab until near the end of winter when her coat went quite sparse and she a little poor. She was ridden maybe 4 times a week but i was pregnant so we just pottered about.

This year I feel she needs a little ‘more’ as she is in more work, still only ridden 3-4 times a week and fully clipped but working harder now. She looks ok at the moment but I feel could do with a little more covering.

She is on a mug of fastfibre and a scoop of safe & sound, forage plus balancer and micronised linseed + hay. Im considering adding some speedibeet....? ANy other thoughts?

Ad lib forage? Fast Fibre has unmolassed beet in it, so you could just increase that.
Otherwise, yes, Speedibeet is cool.

she is out in 2 1/2 acres of scrubby grass and yes gets hay on top of that but im reluctant to put out a round bale or suchlike just yet as her mini shettie companion would eat the lot and blow up like a beach ball:rolleyes::o

muzzle shettie and adlib hay? S is muzzled on winter grazing as its not been touched since May.

More means more eating and a bigger bucket. Up the linseed if you think shes poor.

Either that or change her chaff to something with a little more oomph in it like alfalfa.
