What to ask?

Hi all,

Well after about a year of searching, I am going to view a horse for share this weekend.

I was just wondering whether there was anything specific I should be asking? It's been a long time since I last had a share, so I'm worried I may forget to ask something vital!

Apart from that, wish me luck that a) the horse isn't a complete nutter and b) the owner doesn't think I'm completely useless! It's always nerve wracking riding someone elses horse, I know I'd be really critical if it were me.

Thanks :)

I would ask about your contribution if any
What would be your days for riding
What stable duties would be expected eg poo picking
What you could expect to do with horse, eg competing/fun rides
Would you be expected to school
What would happen if you couldn't make it, things happen
eg I work a rolling rota, so couldn't commit to set days
Good luck

A quick PS to this reply, we have had people ride our horses in the past because ours never get enough work, smile as you approach the owner and take deep breaths when you ride, hum to yourself if you have to, my lad would test riders to the limit if he thought they were nervous, I always asked new riders to tack up, just to see how they approached the horses, if they said hello to them they were ok, then there was just the riding to get through, try and relax and enjoy
