What To do?!! Help!!

Too cut along story short, I lost my job of 3 years, im finding it really hard to pay my bills and for my horses.
I have 3 horses one of which is for sale, but no interest, one of which i cant loan or sell and one of which is on loan to me but i dont really want to give him up.

I want to find a non horsey job but all my cv reads is horses horses and more horses. I have applied for so many jobs in the last 2 weeks but am getting no where.
I dont know what to do! Any tips to save money to be able to keep the horses, and how to turn a horsey cv into something more non horsey!!

Sorry to hear that you are going through a rough patch at the moment. I don't think you'll like my advice though

As much as you love your loan horse, I honestly think that the sensible thing to do would be to send him back, at least untill you are more financially secure, it is frightening how quickly things can spiral out of control and it will make a difference with one less horse to keep. You can then focus on selling your other horse.

As for your CV, look for skills that are transferable, so working on own initiative and part of a team, organising schedules, time management, responsibilities, communication skills etc.

Saving money I'd check out the money saving expert forums; some really good tips on there!

I hope you find a good job soon, unfortuately there are loads of people in the same boat, although I know it's no consolation.

Here is a random list of thoughts...

- speak to the loan horse's owner (explain situation, what you are doing to try to get a new job and that you don't want to give the horse up. It maybe they could take it back temporarily and have you as a sharer or you may have to make a tough choice. But as an owner I'd want to know that my horse's welfare wasn't in doubt).

- can your unsaleable horse be put on 'retirement' livery somewhere cheap? (Ask on here for recommendations obviously...)

- now you aren't working you will have a lot more time. Start doing all your own cooking so you aren't spending on sandwiches, coffees etc.

- make sure you have fun. It will be a lot harder to get a new job if you aren't happy. If going out is too expensive atm then invite people over and tell them to bring a bottle.

- get any benefits you are entitled to as soon as you can. (unemployment, housing possibly)

- set aside what you need each week for essential bills (rent, heating etc, paying off any debts) then budget any thing left over and stick to it, don't let debts spiral.

- ask at your local job centre for CV writing help etc. They should be able to recommend something. If not look on line (at your library if you don't have internet at the moment.)
