i'm being brave and have decided to take my new boy (not arriving until sunday ) into a inhand show in august :O just in hand cause his schooling is poo and will take me all summer to work on :)
but what exactly do you have to do??

I've only done local inhand showing, but generally it's quite straightforward and is over quite quickly!
You walk / trot round together as a group, then line up. Each horse then comes forward for the judge to look at, they'll run their hands over, pick feet up etc and ask a few questions about him/her. Then you walk up to one end of the ring, turn, trot back the way you came in front of the judge & line up of horses and then re-join the line. You then walk round once more at the end & the judges place. That's my experience anyway! - if you go somewhere in the middle then you can easily copy the others in front of you because you don't have to plan out an individual show like you would with ridden, it's the same for everyone.
Hope that helps a little bit, you'll just need to practise groundwork really, to get him going nicely alongside you in walk & trot, to turn when you ask and to halt nicely when you ask him to - make sure he's ok to be felt all over too. What class are you hoping to enter?
(And tell us more about your new boy!)

just a wee cheeky reg mountain and moorland, can't remember exactly what classes there is......but me and my friend are wanting to do the fancy dress as 'clothes horses' ha ha!!!
he's a stunning wee 13.1hh fully reg fell!! mane for miles, loadsa bone and the kindest wee creature i've met in a long time!! just can't wait to get him up her and get him fit and his big bum toned up :D
