What to do next?

i think you are wise to get the vet out asap and good advice re the behaviour diary.

does she go trotting around the field - does she have company at all?

She has individual turnout because thats why i prefer - she has contact on 2 sides of her field if she chooses.... i know im not there all the time but she dosent tend to bother with the other horses but she does love me sadly lol! even when she was in a herd she liked to be left alone.
(odd scratch but mostly alone)

She wont trot down to me/at all unless another horse does/shes spooked. She ambles down for a carrot... her fave food ever.

One thing I forgot to suggest earlier was to think what it is that makes your horse your horse.

In other words, does she have any quirks in any aspect of her life (field, stable, being groomed, having her feet maintained, being given any physio etc) or is there anything about how she moves that you just tend to say "oh she's always done that. That's just her".........

Sometimes those things can be quite revealing too.

You're really fortunate to have Leahurst nearby. Good luck.

Sarah

Thinking a bit sideways and sorry if this sounds nasty, please don't think it is intened to be so.
She could possibly be totally miserable and fed up? No hacking, no friends to go out with, just stable...circles in school...lonely paddock.
I am far from a natural horse person but I do think its important they get the opportunity to display normal horse behaviour.
Sorry.

I agree.

I rode her yesterday, she was much more forward but very silly. Did school a lot better because she had other horses in with her (shes normally alone)

So ive made the decision to give her a break from me and send her away to be schooled/hacked out/jumped by a good, confident rider for upto a month. Ive emailed a few people but its like a flipping minefield lol

Once shes back and can do walk/trot/canter properly she will be out a lot more doing more fun stuff - jumping (low level!) dressage, fun rides etc.... right now i cant trust her so she cannot go out

so no, your not being nasty i think you actually hit the nail on the head :)
