I have a 6.5 tonne horsebox which is off the road, I am waiting for a donor vehicle for the body to be fitted onto. My 7 year old has not been out at all since it has been off the road (about 18 months), he was quite anxious about travelling and then with Covid 19 everything has come to a grinding halt. So my initial thoughts are wait for my lorry to be done so I can get him used to going out and about with me in our own lorry, but its taking ages to find a donor vehicle! So do I take up the offer of lifts in my mates trailers or wait? Any advice?

I would take up offers personally. No harm in getting your horse used to travelling in different trailers/lorries. Especially if your friends have well travelled, calm horses ☺️ Always nice to be with someone too especially the first few times ?

Yes, of course get out and about with your friends. In the many years prior to having my own transport I got lifts from any one who was kind enough, plus transport people, its all educational for your horse.

Is he likely to be very anxious in the trailer do you think? I suppose I might be concerned, with an anxious traveller, that going on a friends trailer might set him back. The friend would need to be a very good and experienced towing driver, and their horse would need to be unflappable.
Otherwise, maybe hire a little lorry once or twice a month and take him out quietly by yourself?
