what to do re loan horse

He's your horse, not hers. I wouldn't delay. Get over there and check that all's well. There's no need to apologise for turning up - she should be apologising for her lack of communication! Hope you find that everything is all right.

Wow, just checked back and can't believe all these lovely messages... thank you so much. Sadly no news yet, I have been in meetings all day that I just couldn't escape. I have run out of 'family emergency' cards this week after a genuine accident at the yard on Monday, which meant I missed that day too... my boss is tolerant but not that tolerant. But I plan on going first thing tomorrow morning before work. To the 'horses missing on loan' reply - thank you so much and if there is a problem I will contact you immediately tomorrow.

Thanks all and I promise to update you in the morning.

xx

Hi all,

Thanks again for your concern. Went over to the yard this morning and there weren't any people around but my boy was there in his stable, wrapped up in at least 5 rugs and very cosy. He seems fine, from what I can tell (with all the rugs!) he looks well and happy, can't see his weight etc but his feet and shoes are good and under the rug he felt ok. I am hoping that the loaner was just very bad with her email (she always was slow, and seemed to not get emails) and has changed her phone number or something. Now I just need to get hold of her to find out why she hasn't replied...

But he is where he should be, and happy, which is all that matters. Had a lovely cuddle (made me realise how much I miss him) and now i can smell him on my hands...

Thanks so much for all the concern.

now you know all is ok maybe pop over again at the weekend and hopefully bump into her or someone else and don't let on you have already been up to see hin. that way then you can get a new number if needed and talk to her as well. she should understand your concerns and have a good explanation for not getting in touch.

glad he was happy and ok though.

Well done, and what a relief but i would get her details up to date and make sure you follow the advice and contact the passport agency/NED/microchip/freezemark companies and inform them she is on loan and no details to be changed

Great News.

Presumably you left a note on the stable door to say that you'd been to the yard, and that she was to contact you asap???

Great news! If you didn't leave a note, like Amymay said, then I think you need to go back to the yard at the weekend when you'll hopefully bump into her and have a chat. It's all very well for her to be taking good care of the horse, but she needs to keep in touch with you! Having put my mare on loan before, I would actually be furious in your shoes :o. Obviously I'm not saying have a go at her or anything like that (I would try and keep my fury private!), but just make sure she understands that you'll worry if you try and get in touch and don't hear back from her. Maybe ask her to drop you an email once every month or so?

brilliant I bet you are so relieved! My horse is out on loan to someone and I know how you feel.
I'm friends on facebook with my loaner so I can often see what she's doing and she always puts pictures of him on there and tags me in them.

so glad it was all ok.

I have just trawled thro all the posts to find this one to see if all was ok.

as others have said, make sure you get her up to date details .

Just a final final update... heard from the loaner last night and she has a new phone number which is why she didn't get my messages. Of course she should have let me know but on the whole I'd rather she was out looking after my horse than emailing me, so all is well!

Thanks everyone. x

Alls well that ends well.
Just a good reminder for loaners to stay on top of whats what with your horse, and to try to loan them near enough to you that you can get to see them easily.
So glad this boys ok.
