My recently barefoot gelding has quite bad thrush so I am scrubbing his feet with hibi, packing his central sulcus with sudacrem and spraying the rest of his hoof with purple hoof rot spray.

My bf mare doesn't have thrush but should I be scrubbing her feet out as well and spraying them? Or am I wasting my time? Will these methods prevent it or do they only treat the thrush once it is there?

Thanks:)

Kevin Bacons thrush treatment is great. I wouldn't be treating the other horse if it hasn't got it just pick out feet daily and keep an eye out. Feet need to be kept as clean and airy as possible. Packed wet mud/poo/bedding in feet is a great breeding ground for a thrush infection. my boy will get it if his feet aren't picked out religiously as he has very deep grooves. Good luck :)

Red horse products. Hoof cleanse once a day when trush, once a week to prevent. And hoof stuff for the central sulcus. Believe me nothing better and very mild on there feed!! (Not on trush :) )

I have struggled with thrush for several years with my horse, I have tried everything including Terramycin spray etc, my farrier told me about a product called NT Dry, it dries up from the inside out. I will always have problems with thrush as my horse has very deep clefts but since using that powder, the deepness of his cleft seems to be shallower, it is worth a try as I have used everything el to no avail.
