What to do with her?

This is just thinking in advance...
we have an 18/19 year old polo pony, chestnut mare who we have had for years and years, since she was 5 i think. We would never sell her as althuogh being a grumpy biatch who reguarly tries to buck you off and failing that will spin around and dump you, we have owned her for too long to sell her! plus who would want that?
naturally being a TB ex-racer turned polo pony she is quite incapable of hacking by her self as everything is obviously going to eat her

i am currently still playing polo on her and my brother was playing her medium goal last season (v. unusual for a polo pony, normally retired at about 11!)... I think she will be fine for a couple more seasons, but she has previously done her tendons, although they are fine now

but you never know...
She is not one to sit in a field having been very much a working horse all her life, obviously she gets TLC, not that she likes it!
but what can you do with a horse that will not really hack? i don't think retiring her would be any good for her as she would just get bl00dy bored...we are very careful with her so she will go for as long as possible pplaying polo and she should be fine for many more summers yet, but just in case...
has anyone experienced this where you have a horse who loves to work, but not much of a hacker?

I,m sure that you could find somebody to take her off your hands even if you sell her for peanuts or do a permanent loan. My yo plays polo and has always managed to pass on his older and or grumpy ex polo ponies, who like your mare have always worked and done things in a 'herd' environment.

Would she not be any good as a polo school master for somebody to learn the ropes on? Failing that, she is your horse and you know her well. If you really think that she has no life after you then you must do the right thing by her, hard as that may be. Good luck
