This is my last year before I sell him as I go to university.

I want to do dressage and some jumping, but he is nervous about his jumping so I will be taking it very slow.

His dressage is good, first tests last summer were both prelims but he won both, I have got a good extended trot out of him and he has got nice paces. Wondering whether it is worth going affiliated. My only doubt is that it costs quite a lot and I don't know if it's worth it for just a year.

What do people think?
Thankyou

I'd say if you think he is good enough go for it. maybe have a go at some prelim affiliated first to see how you get on as you don't have to be registered for that, and then register to do Novice. You have to pay again every year, and if you plan to sell him it would make a good selling point that he has been out to affiliated outings, not necessarily even winning, although it sounds like you could have some success. It's only worth it if you will go to more than a couple in the year, but it could be worth it. Sounds like you have got the jumping plan sorted too.
Sorry you have to sell him to go to university, but the most important thing is to have fun with him this year. Good luck

African Beauty - your signature is so huge it won't fit on my screen and I have to scroll across - very annoying!

Girlmoose - go for it, if you only have a year left, do what you can and enjoy every minute of what you can afford to do. :)
