Whenever I see a pile of horse hair on the floor after clipping, I think (for less than a second) about stuffing cushions, or making jumpers. I think there was a book some years ago called 'knitting with dog hair' (how revolting). Any other ideas?

Whenever I see a pile of hair I think about my compost heap. But also the birds and their nests. I've sometimes taken handfuls home (from the paddock).

But even at the hairdressers on the rare occasions that I go I gaze at the fallen locks. What a waste. I imagine myself asking for it to be bundled up and given to me. Great stuff, hair. Very nutritious for the compost.

I’m so glad it’s not just me that stares at it thinking it just have a use. Even while I’m itching with a bra full of hair and hating every moment.

Maybe we could turn it into industrial scale house insulation… saving the heating bills…
