What to do with old hat? Please recommend me a new one!

Fell off today XC schooling, and hit my head and therefore hat quite hard on the hard ground. Instructor said I should probably get the hat checked, and maybe a new one, which is very annoying as it was my new HS1 that i've only had since beginning of may. But these things happen with horses So my two questions are where/ how do I get my hat checked?
And any recommendations of a new hat? I do like the HS1, but I find it get's very hot, so was thinking might get a vented one and maybe something a bit cheaper! It needs to be skull cap, and my head isn't champion shaped, any ideas? Or stick with the gatehouse hat?

I think you can just take it into a relatively big tack shop near you and get someone qualified to look at it! xx

Do you think the shop assistants have X ray eyes, and can somehow visually assess the structure of your hat for stress fractures/weaknesses?
If it were my hat (and my precious head jammed full of awesome brains which I prefer to store internally), I'd be taking a mallet to it (whilst not wearing it) and then buying myself a safe new one.
