I've got two old saddles that have been used for backing. Now have a new one so would like to get rid of the old one's. Not worth much but have tried the normal places to advertise with no luck. Any ideas what to do with them?

If you've had no luck selling maybe try an overseas charity where they would definitely be much appreciated?

Gambia horse and pony trust is one I know of

I gave my old saddles to an equine charity; was under the distinct impression they'd be taken to their centre and used on the horses they had there, which I felt OK about.

It turned out that this wasn't the case: they were auctioned off, probably for a pittance, and that money was used......

OK so I appreciate that the money DID go to the right cause, but I felt I'd been misinformed TBH.

I heartily wish I'd kept these two saddles now, they would have very likely fitted something in the yard, and would have been useful!

Hang onto yours OP would be my advice....... you never know when a spare saddle might come in handy.

I donate them to my local saddler who dismantles them in demonstrations to show people what they are like inside and how they are built.

One of my old saddles which couldn't be used as a saddle anymore due to a suspected # tree, became a project for someone looking for an old saddle to turn in to a saddle stool!
