hi well i have a 10 yr old gelding altho hes more like a 5 yr old as he was left to grass for 3 years, brought him back into work 2 years ago and found out he is a fab jumper....he can clear well over a metre with ease he loves to jump....but hes 15hh and too small for me really and i also have a mare and a youngster whom im bringing on.

So question is what do i do with him BECAUSE he is spooky n green hacking as nt done much, hes forward going too strong for my daughter to ride and hes grumpy lol, he will bite if he thinks he can get away with it.

So what do i do with him, it seems a shame to leave him to grass again as he has loads of potential in jumping but in no way is he an easy horse to loan...not nasty as such just needs someone understanding and confident when he gets nervous.
I am the only one who has ridden him really because iv had him from being a baby i would never sell him.

Do you think anyone would want a horse just for jumping ?

sorry its long :)

Can you afford to send him away for schooling for a while? Then try to loan him out?

As for loaning, it may take a while but there are a few riders out there who like a challenge so I'd keep trying to look for a loaner. I know a couple of people who like to loan youngsters just for the pleasure of bringing them on.

How about advertising on the Pony Club website? It costs about £30 but you should get some decent and knowledgeable riders reply, and they will want to jump and won't mind the quirks. Biting would not put me off, it's a minor issue and the hacking will improve - so not so much quirky as green really.

Just mention that it would be a long term loan, as no-one would want to put a lot of work into a horse just for the summer. The main thing is not to mind how far away he goes, and you can ask for references from the branch DC.
