I'm absolutley furious typing this so apologies if it rambles!

I've had a voicemail left on my phone, enquiring about the pony for sale. That'd be great, except I don't have a pony for sale.
I rang them back; they sound lovely and explained I didnt know what pony they were on about and they read back to me an ad they've seen in the local tack shop; describing my pony to a tee. Name, colour, size etc all bang on with my number at the bottom.

I'm incredibly confused at this point; so call the tack store & they say a gentleman took the ad in. Very odd.

It turns out its my ex. We spilt 4 months ago, I moved out of our bought house and back home and he moved out at the start of December. We're in the process of selling up etc and on face value hes been very 'nice' about it of late.. however; he's been seeking legal advice etc after telling me there was no need to go down that route but thats obviously a different story.

To say I'm furious is an understatement. She was bought for me as a gift by my parents last summer when we saw my old mare was back up for sale and thought she deserved to come home and stop being passed around as it looked like she had been.

What would you do?

Note; pony is registered to me, is nothing to do with him as he has no interest in her/ponies and he never paid a penny for or towards her.

He's over 100 miles away now; He does know where shes stabled yes.

Realistically, I know he can't sell her or do anything because shes not registered to him and hes 100 miles away but that doesnt stop me being furious.

Get legal advice yourself and get your solicitor to document what he has done. It sounds like he's decided to be a pratt so get good advice on your whole situation.

get legal advice, warn your yard manager, mates whatever, at the stable, change locks and invite him to dinner but electrify the doorbell.

Our fields are locked with padlocks so I'm just gonna bring the keys home with me instead of hiding them at the yard.

I'll warn the YM when I go up later to bring in and ride.

I'm on a seperate part of the yard though, across the road so could be difficult to keep an eye on her and I may ask if i can move to the main yard.

Legal advice does seem the only option

I think you should take legal advice. I would have thought that if she was a gift from your parents then he has no right to any part of her and therefore deciding that an ad should be placed for something not belonging to him would be seen as wrong and unreasonable behaviour.

I think it would be worth getting the ad (or a copy) and confirmation from the shop that he put it in (show them a photo), would be worth doing. Never know when the info might come in handy given the situation. He seems to be creating a particular situation.

100 miles away but he came all that way to put the ad in the tack shop?

Appalling thing to do. Poor you!

Sounds like a complete idiot to me, no wonder you are no longer going out with him - I'd be furious if anyone did that to me! Ditto all the above really, hope you get him sorted

I would get a solictor to write a very stern letter including a copy of the ad and statement that he brought the ad in and make clear that your horse is not a joint asset (unless you were married in which case I think everything is a joint assett??).

Finally I think you should send him a copy of this thread to show just how many women are willing to chop his nads off !!!!

OMG.... he is certainly playing mind games with you.

I would look at moving her within the current yard, if only as a temporary measure. Visit the tackshop and ascertain that it is indeed him who placed the ad, then ask for the actual ad.. then get yourself off to a solicitor and take some legal advice. You may even find they recommend you take an injunction to keep him away from you and your pony.....

Good Luck honey, it sounds like a nightmare.

If he was trying to sell her himself he wouldn't have put your number alone on the ad, sounds like rotten grapes..hes done it to be spiteful and to wind you up

Not very mature. Probably gave him a kick to do it..what a twat.

Still take precautions just in case selling her behind your back is the plan.

QR my ex did this with my 2 boys and my trailer and my car, even though i could prove i bought them with my money

He also put me on allsorts of dodgy massage/swinger websites

Take legal advice as i was able to easily obtain a restraining order to stop him and when our divorce got to court, the judge threw out his petion to divorce me and ordered that i should divorce him on unreasonable behavior grounds

Gosh - what an awful situation for you - you poor thing.

In addition to all the advice above about solicitors etc, it may also be worth keeping a diary so you can document exactly what has happened - dates, what was said, by whom etc and also if there are any other strange goings on you notice. This allows you to have a complete record and nothing gets forgotten if it becomes necessary later.

The diary is a great idea, my sister had to do that, including times when her ex was messing her around over access to the children

It was used in court and as it was an ongoing record it IS acceptable in court should the need arise (which I seriously hope it doesn't) but it is good advice..

Thanks for all the responses.

We were engaged, but never married, so as far as I'm aware shes not a join asset.

I' ve got the ad taken down & I'm going to collect it and the CCTV later to prove it was him. I think he gave the ad before he moved & asked it went up 2when he returned from holiday" the 1st week of Jan (poss to cover his back)

It is out of pure spite as far as I can see as my number is on the ad.

He's just being hideous, yet is lovely and amicable if I ring him about the house sale etc.

I'm seeking legal advice early next week and keeping a record.

Its very sad its come to this.

I thought it said chop his hands off!
Which, btw I thought was a very fair and suitable punishment!

But go with the nads, that's even better!

He's obviously doing it to be spiteful and get a reaction. The fact he gave out your number suggests that he's not actually trying to sell it, he just wants to cause you hurt and worry.

It is very sad for you and it seems he is creating a ridiculously unecessary situation.

Great stuff going to get the ad and cctv, the way he is behaving it is best to be on the safe side.

so glad you are going to take legal advice but do consider the diary in the meantime.

I do hope it all gets sorted quicky for you.

It is a bit pathetic, i decided i wasnt happy & was honest & moved out that night.
I've never demanded or tried to make things difficult for him.
In fact, I've tried to take over the mortgage to avoid negative equity for us both.. :/

I'm quite hurt when I actually think about what hes done.

1. See a solicitor
2. keep a diary
3. get the pony freezebranded

chop his bits off slowly with a rusty blunt knife
sew frozen prawns into his jacket lining/car seats/curtains, the stink when they go bad will be great revenge.

that is awful.... the things men will do! He probably knows that the best way to get to you is through your horses... my other half would probably do the same! Def seek legal advise!

Sounds like a total prat! Definately better off without him - do you think he is just doing this to pick a fight with you? clearly knows its going to wind you up and as he put your number on maybe he's hoping you will keep phoning him - even if it to shout at him. Obviously got a twisted streak...

Can't believe any of us are wasting time wondering what he's up to - he clearly has no brain and doesn't think!! Slow painful death is the way forward.
