My friend has got a 16hh 15 year old warmblood mare. She is not well and has decided she can't cope with the horse anymore. It needs to go ASAP, what would you do?
She can jump a small course and is OK to school and hack out but hasn't done much lately. Not a bad looker, not a novice ride. Any suggestions please. Loaning? Dealer?

Trouble is if she doesn't sell for ages friend will probably end up owing them money! I think a dealer may be the way to go, at least its cut and dried.

Cant she find a Loan home? That may be a quicker way to go, I would always wonder and worry what would happen to my horse if it went to a Dealer. May be worth trying at least.

A dealer will not love the horse, at the end of the day its money in theyre eyes not much else, if she cares about the horse she will take time to find the best possible home.

To be honest at that age and with a limited experience the horse isnt really worth very much as a sale prospect. If money isnt a factor maybe advertise to a good home for a nominal sum. Either that or long term loan or the sales. Horses arent selling well at the moment and if she wants rid of the horse quickly the options are very limited.
