I haven't posted for a while as I've been very busy moving house. I now live in a lovely large cottage in the middle of the Shropshire countryside. I love it.

However, it does come with a downside. I currently keep my 2 yr old filly on the livery yard she was bred at, she runs with all the other youngsters, well she does when shes not in because of mud fever! Anyways up until October last year I also kept my riding horse there but I sold him as we just were not clicking, the intention was wait until spring and then perhaps look for something on loan for a couple of years.
Anyways, to cut a long story a little bit shorter, the journey to the yard from my new house is a pain in the butt, 14 miles on little country lanes, it took me 40 minutes last night cause of the ice and snow, normally takes 25.
My next door neighbour is a very horse friendly farmer and I can keep her there, stables and grazing (no school) for £15, however, there is only one other horse there and I am reluctant to move her unless I can be sure she has company. Sooooo have been thinking maybe I should'nt wait till spring, maybe I should look for something now and then I can move both of them and for the first time in my life I will be able to see my horses from my house!
Moving her/them to the farm has its downsides, little human company, no school (huge problem when come to back youngster but would be able to take her back to current yard for that no problem) and I now work full time which means less free time for me. Moving them of course means an hour a day less travelling which could be spent with them, but because of lack of school no winter riding in the week.
So guys what would you do? Look for another horse or leave my youngster where she is?
Also wanted to say I am not looking for just a little pony to keep her company, I am missing riding sooo much.
Have been scanning all the usual web sites for something suitable 15 - 16hh pref. mare (I dont seem to get on with geldings) suitable for a bit of hacking, fun rides and maybe a bit of pc stuff. Can't find anything really, not helped by the fact that I despise horse hunting and I have a very small budget!

ETS Moving to another livery yard just isn't an option. Hate the places with a passion and its taken me years to find one that I love as much as I do now and I wouldn't be moving her at all except we are now so far away.

25 minutes each way, makes 50 minutes round trip, which is 50 minutes less to spend with your horse, so I would seriously considering moving your youngster despite the lack of facilities.

Backing a youngster without a school is a problem, but not impossible. Who owns the only other horse at the farm, the farmer himself or is this a livery? Do you think you would get on with that person?

The other person is a livery - have only seen her once. I don't think she does much with her horse. But then its been like an ice rin round here for 3 weeks solid so not much chance of seeing her riding.

Well we have our horses at home and would hate to have to go back to a livery yard. Manage fine without a school, but there are 2 or 3 in hacking distance that daughter can borrow if need be. I appreciate though it would be an advantage for backing your youngster. I think in your shoes I would seriously consider moving her to the neighbouring farm. Aren't you in the Whitchurch area now, if you are desperate to ride Murph could always do with some exercise
