Until recently I had a horse on loan and the arrangement went sour. Basically the owner is scared of the horse, doesn't want to/know how to look after it. I had the horse for about 3-4 years and brought it on, looked after it properly and did some great dressage with it. There was talk of me buying it and I really did make a bond with the horse we had such a good partnership.
Anyway that was about a month ago. I was going to look at my first horse today, but got out of the drive and started banging on to my friend about how I could try to convince the owner of the loan horse to sell it to me at which point my friend pointed out that I just wasn't ready for another horse and I admited that I spent yesterday evening crying because I missed her and know that she is being treated horribly. At this point I just turned round and went home.
I have to get my timing right but I do think that I need one more go at asking the owner to sell the horse to me, of which there is a chance it could happen failing this, at least I would get a bit of closure.
Just wondered if anyone had been in a similar situation its all a bit emotional and I'm worried that if I was to get a new horse that I wouldn't be able to make a bond with it or if anything went wrong I would resent it.

Oh poor you

, I would go ahead and buy a horse of your own so you dont get into this situation again, approach the owner once more and ask her to sell her to you but if she wont then you will just have to leave it and start looking for one to buy, you will soon build up a bond with a new one and if anything goes wrong then ask for help and carry on building your partnership, hope this helps and good luck
