...suspected gastric ulcers as a one yr old? This was due to her having a bad start before I got her and not being fed enough and taken away from her mum too early.

Over winter she's been in Alfa a with oil with alfa beet and conditioning cubes. I wanted to feed her less of the cubes and I know they may not be particularly good for her so I phoned dengie and they said the only other thing I can feed her to give her extra (as she is a TB x that lives out) was dengie Alfa pellets. She had these for a while bit has decided she had gone off them and won't eat them at all.

She has pink powder every day and I have been putting in that straight cut linseed to give her extra. What else can I give her other than the Alfa? Keen to keep her on pink powder but if there's another balancer I'd of course consider it. She is not under weight but I'd like to feed her a bit more than alfa as she has up until yesterday been on more than this.

Any ideas greatly appreciated - thank you :)

Ps: just to add she's now 6 and although has always been grumpy since I had her has never shown other signs of the ulcer. She has just eaten all of her Alfa, and she is fed twice a day.

what about baileys Low Cal all our horses love it and look really well, glossy and have good feet ,not fattening , you can usually get free samples in the feed store or ask Baileys if they can send you a sample, it is about £22 a bag but you only feed about 1 pound a day ,they have a measure cup ,so you do not need to weigh it ,the bag will last about 6 weeks .
I hope this helps.

I seem to be recommending it to everybody lately but I really think its a wonderful product - Rowen Barbary's Forage n Fiber. I tried pretty much every feed with my very finicky ulcer prone mare without any success, she would eat it for a few days and then go off of it completely. With Forage n Fiber, as soon as we put the feed in her plate she dives in. We are already on the 6th bag and she hasn't gone off of it yet, so its looking pretty great!

They are also super helpful at RB and if you call them they will send you samples to try.

I'd change to dengie healthy tummy, my friend has a charity for ex racers, some come in with gastric ulcers, all need feeding up, she puts them on healthy tummy and it does wonders... She doesn't need to feed any conditioning supplements... This does the trick. You won't need pink powder as it already has protexin in it which is the best probiotic on the market, you may want to look at something like haemavite b plus which contain a load of b vitamins to help the gut act as efficiently as possible, but I suspect healthy tummy already contains b vitamins. My friend feeds it I'm varying degrees depending on the horses needs... Weight gain, maintainence etc... But they all get it and they all thrive on it
