Yesterday i picked up my mare from the loaners and her condition is very poor to what it was

Whats should i feed her to build her back up without blowing her brain, currently we are giving her safe & sound, sugabeet, and a bit of linseed, as well as hay and plenty of grass, would you recommend anything else.

alfa a oil, alfa beat and spillers conditioning mix. You will see a diff in a few weeks i have with ours, we have to be careful with what we feed him as he can get fizzy but this feed is doing him the world of good. And as megan2006 said as much hay or haylage as possibe.

I feed my WB Baileys conditioning mix, (cant remember what number it is) I have owned him 5 years and since putting him on this 3 months ago he looks the best he ever has, it has not made him fizzy at all, and he is prone to fizzing up, i also feed oil and Alpha A which are both good for weight gain.
Like other people have mentioned, as much haylage as as she will eat.

With the grass coming through I wouldn't overdo the hard feed too much TBH. Just lots of ad lib hay or haylage and then fingers crossed some Dr Green.

If you're really worried then the Baileys No 4 that others mention is great. It really does work a treat.

You must be relieved to have your girl home after this.

Very - and i am glad i brought her back sooner rather than waiting, i will be very dubious about loaning out again after this which is a real shame

alfa oil is a good for weight gain, though i used safe and sound on my pony and its done wonders for him, he had mouth problems and dropping weight/condition, im planning on adding a conditioning cube in with his once he starts doing more work, you may be aswell doing this too rather than changing her chaff.
